I was thinking that as well. I have never considered Florida a border state. We've had Cuban and Venezuelans refugees, which have had support from both parties from what I can tell. But it seems like some are suggesting that we are similarly situated as Texas. I could be wrong, but I don't get that unless it's just political posturing.

It is stronger than that here. They have TPS because they come from Venezuela. Those who call them illegal do so because they hate immigrants

Nonsense. Florida put them on planes and didn’t tell Marta’s Vinyard that they wore coming. Just like today when Texas dropped off immigrants on DC not where they were expecting them, but at the Vice President’s house. This isn’t about the communities taking them in, but the sick evil of using them as pawns to score this very point. Proof of the levels of cruelty the right wing enablers of the scum who do this demand.

See my post above. I am not surprised you can’t figure it out. This is a free country. People who have a right to be here have rights not to be lied to about where they are going to be tricked by a sick governor into going tot a different place to score political points.

Maybe they don't hate immigrants, maybe they just are ignorant?

You’re right. Biden has handled immigration swimmingly. He has a coherent plan and is communicating it to the public effectively.

Just because the republicans plan is criminal doesn’t mean Biden is doing well on this issue. I’m pleased with much he’s done but I’m fairly well read and I couldn’t tell you what he’s doing other than seeking humane treatment of asylum seekers. That’s not on me.

Fair enough. I don't care enough to dig into it. I'm not a gigantic fan of hers. But I still think there's a big difference between placing someone in a hotel that you have used for a similar purpose before and just dumping them off, which I presume is what Abbott did.

Reading what she said further, and thinking about a little bit more, you do need to have advanced coordination if humans are just dropped off. You don't need that if people are being put up in the hotel in your jurisdiction. What does the suburb need to do to prepare?

...The poll, conducted before Florida sent two planes full of migrants to Martha's Vineyard, was released hours after the White House condemned the relocation actions as dehumanizing to illegal immigrants.

Condemned - but it's ok when the Federal government flies them somewhere?

Yes. They do. They are Venezuelans and have a right to be here under Temporary Protective Status. They can work too, which means they could have gotten jobs and helped ease our employee shortage

Yes. Because the federal government makes immigration policy. And doesn’t lie to the immigrants about where they are going and why

Just out of curiosity, why should the mayor of Chicago need to tell the mayor of a suburb that 64 immigrants will be staying at the local Hampton Inn? That seems like a non-event to me. Does the mayor need to put barbed wire up around the hotel? Does he need to call in extra police? What difference does it make of it’s a wedding crowd, a bunch of little leaguers’ families or a bunch of immigrants? The town might get a little extra business, but I don’t see the reason for the notification, assuming it didn’t actually occur. Any idea how the mayor actually found out? Did he notice a smell?

Come on. You know the demand on public services will increase as will interactions of undocumented people with authorities. She said clearly that her biggest issue was not knowing what was coming. Does the number of people matter? How many before the receiving authority should be contacted?

64 people will be staying in a Hampton Inn in a town of over 11,000 people. It’s a non-issue that a jackass is turning into an issue.

DeSantis gave his speech spiking the ball in Niceville. He should have given his speech in Doral in front of Venezuaken citizens. But, bigots make a much more receptive audience.
