BS. They were at a suburb hotel previously used for Afghans. “Jurisdiction controlled by” is doing a lot of work there. Suburb that Wouldn’t exist without the economic engine of the city. Free riders. Wish there was a mechanism to charge those free riders. Problem everywhere but BS saying they are different than Chicago. Hateful people

But it’s a terrible place. Alan Dershowitz is no longer invited into polite salons just because he’s advocating for fascism. Such intolerant people. I’m with Larry David on this one

Many of those voters like this stuff. While they love being able to talk trash about Venezuela, they hate the idea of helping the asylees and refugees who come here looking for help.

This is a flawed opinion. Biden has been given basically no control over border policy. Trump "judges" have blocked essentially everything his administration has tried to do to change the policies from Trump's. When the far-right Supreme Court finally reversed one of those laughable decisions, the Fifth Circuit on remand used a procedural mechanism to delay the SCOTUS decision going into effect for months.

If you don't like our current border/immigration policies, talk to the Republican "judges" who have hijacked control of it away from the executive branch. As for immigration reform, it's not happening in this Congress. But you're wrong that Biden hasn't offered any immigration reform or tried to address border security:

I did notice an odd dichotomy that I can't exactly figure out while I was up there. First, as you can guess, they all vote solidly Dem. Almost as a badge of honor and speak of the movers and shakers in the Democratic party like the Obama's and Kennedy's like royalty. BUT, when it comes to BLM or trans issues, they have very conservative viewpoints.

As an example, I got into a discussion about the removal of a confederate soldier statue that NAACP and the like are trying to have torn down. The people that live there are very much against it and said that the head of the VFW is against it's removal that that "if you are a betting man, bet on it staying".

There aren't a lot of minorities in places like that or in the Cape but the locals aren't quite as liberal as their voting tendencies reflect. Can't figure it.

all I'm saying is that she could have notified the receiving area. that was her beef with Texas. Nobody told Chicago they were coming. I get the details, that isn't the issue with me.

Fair enough. I don't know the specifics of what she said about Texas. But the Daily Mail piece was pretty inflammatory.

It still feels qualitatively different to be putting them up in a hotel as opposed to just dumping them

So DeSantis shipped refugees from Maduro's Venezuela to Massachusetts. I always thought that Republicans had sympathy for refugees fleeing from authoritarian countries with Marxist economies. I guess that only applied to refugees from a certain large island south of Florida.

And because they have TPS, they can work here. With the labor shortages we have, it is quite sad to send people away.

That is a good question, the state isn’t supposed to be taking people into “custody” in the first place. Which I assume is why they lied to them about going to Boston, going to a “sanctuary city”, getting jobs, etc. So there are multiple layers of questions here in both TX and FL as to who is “processing” these people and what the legality of what they are doing is. If they are straight up lying and doing this on the down-low they aren’t any better than human smugglers imo.

It could also be the federal government moving the illegal immigrants around the country.

The symbolism of their cruelty os not bound by decency because this ignites the base of people who hate immigrants. These people know what they are doing. Here is one where Texas shipped immigrants to the Vice President’s residence instead of to where help was waiting for them. Two buses of migrants dropped off near the vice president's residence in Washington They can get away treating people like garbage because that is how their base feels about them. In DeSantis’ case, he picked immigrants fleeing an authoritarian dictatorship whose government is acknowledged to oppress everyone. Why? This is about a message to stop immigrants from coming from such places. Better to support oppressive regimes and deny entity from places like that to appeal to the base of immigrant haters. So, the next time their decry socialism or dictatorships, know that they don’t give a damn. The proof is in their actions.
