There's been a Hamburger Mary's in Jacksonville for at least a decade. I've never been either, but it's still there so it's obviously doing well enough ..

Somehow I think she might have been overlooked lol not a really high profile position and honestly didn't even know there was such a position probably not a whole lot of vetting going on

Atkinson was appointed just two months later to the Florida Board of Massage Therapy.

I am no expert on the validity of the legal argument here, but I do believe that they have a strong moral argument for the reasons you’ve stated. No one is forcing anybody to attend that restaurant, so the argument for banning such experiences must assume that we citizens cannot be trusted to make proper decisions for ourselves.

I don't doubt that the DeSantis administration may not have known. Nor would I question they might not even appointed her if they had known. But I feel pretty certain that if now someone was to demand her resignation, or otherwise suggest that it was inappropriate, he would attack back and say that she was perfectly qualified, and that liberals were trying to attack true Americans

There is not a tool box big enough for the political tools in Florida.

I sense a future Floridian that will be given refuge by the Governor. Maybe Sen. Scott can parody his arrest

A Missouri man rented a U-Haul truck Monday evening and then crashed it into a security barrier across from the White House just a few hours later, authorities said Tuesday.

The box truck’s driver smashed into the barrier near the north side of Lafayette Square on Monday around 10 p.m., the Secret Service said in a statement. He was identified as 19-year-old Sai Varshith Kandula of Chesterfield, Missouri, a St. Louis suburb.

No one was injured in the crash.

After the crash, Kandula exited the truck with a Nazi flag
and started shouting as Park Police and Secret Service officers approached him, two people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. When he was questioned by investigators, Kandula said he was there to take over the government and wanted to kill President Joe Biden, the people said. The people were not authorized to publicly discuss specific details of the investigation and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.

With that name it sounds like he may have taken the Aryan race thing too literally, or was maybe confused about the swastika

Great letter to the editor in this morning’s Times. Response to a column from Stephanie Hayes.

Stephanie, I agree with you so often that it causes me to wonder if we were separated at birth. But girl, this time your throbbing thumb must have caused temporary insanity.

The reason Florida is up for the Kim Jong Un award for excellence in autocratic performance by a state government is because lots of Floridians — a majority of Floridians — make the double-chin cringe face about what’s going on, then somehow find themselves too busy to vote. That’s it. It’s really that simple.

Now, top LGBTQ+ lead organizations and the NAACP are warning people to stay clear of Florida lest their brethren find themselves arrested for unacceptable levels of glam or letting it slip that slavery was actually a thing here a while back and the country’s systems have not yet caught up to the passing of the 14th Amendment.

So, Stephanie, as much as you want to separate the people who live here from the dastardly doings in Tallahassee, that notion is about as tethered to reality as Elon Musk’s ability to name children. As the saying goes, “Evil prevails when good people do nothing.” And on that, I hope someday we can both agree.

the problem is that all of these lands are going to be allowed to continue to be used for ag and cattle with no requirements for BMP's to be developed to reduce the nutrient runoff. Ag and cattle are the primary nutrient contributors to the Lake O nutrient load and the state is doing nothing about it other than asking for voluntary BMP's. We are currently writing legal descriptions for thousands of acres to be purchased as part of this program and the client (investment group) is thrilled with the deal so I can only imagine that the purchase price and terms are friendly. A skeptic would say this is how to use gubmnt funds to get positive pub and satisfy deep pocketed donors at the same time. As always, the devil is in the details
