sad what we have let this little petty man and his supporters do to our state

Former Florida GOP Rep. Considers Drastic Move Because Of Gov. Ron DeSantis (msn.com)

Florida-born and raised former Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.) is thinking about leaving the Sunshine State because of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R) authoritarian policies.
Jolly, who quit the GOP in 2018, on Sunday said DeSantis’ attacks on migrants, the LGBTQ community and African Americans had left him feeling “unwelcome simply for my embrace of diversity of thought and as an ally” of those groups, even though he’s a “white, evangelical, straight male.”

“Why would I want to raise my kids in an environment in which they’re shamed for embracing diversity of thought and diverse cultures?” Jolly asked on MSNBC.
“I want my children to be exposed to as much diversity as possible and at home my wife and I can orient our family around the value set that’s right for us and prepare our kids to make decisions that are ultimately right for them as adults,” he continued. “That’s not permissible in the state of Florida. You’re shamed for it, you’re unwelcome.”

Jolly’s comments echoed those he made to Time magazine, in which he lamented the shift in vibe that Florida has undergone underneath DeSantis’ governorship. “It’s in the air, it’s everywhere, it’s amazing,” he said of the proliferation of so-called culture wars in the state. “It’s between neighbors, it’s when you go to restaurants, when you go to schools. You’re on one side or the other, and people know it.”

More reason for DeSantis to hate Mexico. The nation is going woke, thinking an indigenous woman has right to kill her rapist in self-defense instead of wondering what she did to provoke him as an illicit single mother and hoping to have his baby

Mexican prosecutors announced Saturday night that they are withdrawing a case against a woman who was sentenced to six years in prison for killing a man as he raped and attacked her.

In a ruling last week that touched off a public outcry, a court in Mexico State said that while it agreed 23-year-old Roxana Ruiz was raped in 2021, it found her guilty of homicide with “excessive use of legitimate defense.” It also ordered Ruiz to pay more than $16,000 in reparations to the family of her attacker.

Feminist groups, which have supported Ruiz’s defense, angrily protested, saying the ruling was criminalizing survivors of sexual violence while protecting perpetrators in a country with high levels of gender-based violence and femicides. Protesters in Mexico City carried signs reading “Defending my life isn’t a crime.”

Ruiz, an Indigenous woman and single mother, told reporters after the court’s ruling that she had received death threats because of the case and that she worried for her family’s safety, particularly the life of her 4-year-old son.

Looks like the Mexican President was considering a pardon if the charges were not withdrawn. Doesn’t understand like his neighbor to the north that pardons for killing in self defense are for those defending themselves not from rape or other violence, but defending society from the dangerous and unacceptable message of true equality.

new texts show that DeS and convicted trump facilitator Parnas had more contact than DeS reported...only the best

Exclusive: Texts tie DeSantis closely to Trump insider Lev Parnas in 2018 race | Reuters

BOCA RATON, Florida, May 22 (Reuters) - Ukrainian-American businessman Lev Parnas and his business partner were arrested in 2019, accused by the U.S. government of funneling a Russian oligarch’s money into American political campaigns. One recipient of Parnas’ donations -- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis -- has said he was barely an acquaintance. “The governor does not have a relationship with these individuals,” DeSantis’ spokesperson at the time, Helen Aguirre Ferré, said in a statement on Oct. 10, 2019. Six days later, DeSantis told reporters that Parnas "was just like any other donor, nothing more than that.”

But DeSantis and Parnas worked more closely together than the Republican governor has disclosed, according to a detailed account of their relationship Parnas provided to Reuters and 63 previously unreported text messages from DeSantis to Parnas between May and October 2018, as DeSantis campaigned for governor. A jury later found Parnas guilty of campaign finance crimes and other charges.
    ..............................................
The text messages reviewed by Reuters show that DeSantis frequently – in more than 20 texts – appealed to fellow Floridian Parnas for introductions, advice and other fundraising help during his hotly contested campaign for governor. Two sources close to DeSantis during his 2018 campaign confirmed the texter’s number belonged to DeSantis at that time.

The texts also reveal that Parnas served as an intermediary between DeSantis and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who at the time was the personal attorney of then-President Trump. In one case, 10 days before the 2018 election, DeSantis sent Parnas a text with suggested wording for a Giuliani tweet in support of his candidacy, the messages show.

I don't know how much impact that will have, but it is significantly more information than we had before. Thanks for sharing.

If nothing else, it shows very poor judgment. No one should have affiliated themselves with Lev Parnas. No way he should be in direct contact with a candidate. He was such an obvious fraud and had some other more sinister agenda. No effective organization lets a guy like that get that close to the candidate.

All I can say is wow. RINO! I wonder if people on the right actually take this in and internalize what he is saying. Or are they quick to dismiss him for whatever reason. He makes very salient points. Any government should govern for EVERYONE not one subsection of people(white christians). I had high hopes for Desantis in the beginning. He went so far right. Crazy.

DeSantis said he wanted to shutdown the Gator Nationals in Gainesville, Florida saying “We will not tolerate any event that exposes our children to that type of perverse behavior such as drag racing.” DeSantis later denied making the comment after being informed that drag racing was with cars and motorcycles and not drag queens.

Note: For those who think this is real it was a joke. [IMG]

You would think that they don't have the internet or dont know how to use google.

This former cop was convicted of a felony for pistol whipping a teen. Few years later, head of security at one of the best private schhols in Ft Myers. Arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm. How do people like that pass even simple background checks
