    At a presser?

You're thinking Dumbass Joe, who must be ever coddled by friendly surroundings and pre-screened questioners with pre-approved questioners, ...and of course, his canned answers given to him on a cheat sheet.

    Think like what???

It was advertised as a meltdown...it appeared to be a take down, in the opposite direction.

DeSantis was just back in Israel - reportedly for the fourth time. He said that his prayer at the Western Wall saved Florida from Hurricane Dorian in 2019. I don't know if he went to Israel last year or whether he prayed if he did. If not, it may explain why we got hit by Hurricane Ian.

DeSantis' prayers could be a very creative and inexpensive way to deal with the impacts of hurricanes without all of the complicated issues such as insurance reform. Of course, the prayer didn't weaken Dorian - presumably, God heard the prayer and decided to send Dorian to the Bahamas.

I know this kind of view about prayer doesn't represent all people of faith, but it's just so odd to me. I'm not sure if this was just an applause line (which seems kinda inappropriate) or if he actually believes this.

DeSantis in Jerusalem touts pro-Israel credentials ahead of expected presidential bid

During the speech, DeSantis also repeatedly said the shared religious values between Judaism and Christianity are the basis for the alliance between the U.S. and Israel.

    • He told a story about his visit to the Western Wall in Jerusalem in 2019 and said he prayed that Florida would pass the hurricane season safely. He said that at the time, a hurricane that was heading to Florida slowed and didn't hit the state. “I think it was because of my prayer at the Western Wall," he said.

A little late to the 'dislike' comments party, but want to add my thoughts to the subject of 'dislike' and it's many and over used appearances on this forum. Rather than using it more appropriately to register dislike of what was posted, it appears it is used most often to offensively register 'dislike' of a poster rather than his or her post. Everyone who reads and contributes to threads on this forum likely has strong opinions and will not always agree. If finding common ground and workable solutions to our massive problems is our goal, our mutual dialogues must be conducted with respect.

The 'dislike' rating appears to me more a passive aggressive method some employ to register not only their blanket dislike of most anything posted by their political opposites, but contemptuous dislike of the person who wrote the post receiving their 'dislike.' More times than not bestowing a 'disagree' rating on a post would be a more relevant and accurate rating, but there are some apparently compelled to bestow a dislike rating, perhaps out of petulance, anger, or hostility.

Governor DeFascist is reportedly planning to remove another elected state attorney, Monique Worrell in Orlando, from office because he doesn't like her politics. This is clearly unconstitutional and an abuse of power, but because the Florida Senate is saturated with his spineless sycophants, he'll get away with it.

I'm also sure there will be some of his turd supporters cheering this on. Why? Because they hate democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. If you can't win local elections, just have your wannabe strongman in Tallahassee remove the other side's representatives from office. Despicable.
Worrell says Orange GOP official is helping DeSantis’ office in ‘witch-hunt’

This is interesting, the ratings are now policed?
My thought about thumbs down is that it’s sort of like the cousin of come on man. And sometimes a post is so miserable that it doesn’t deserve the more civil and polite disagree.
Also, don’t discount the history of a poster. That is another reason for the poster and not just the post getting negative attention.

Policed? No, though scrutinized seems a better descripion from my own point of view.

What if a poster consistently receives a sarcastic rainbow on his/her posts?
    What does that mean?

I don't know; they are not my concern. You should ask the person who dispenses them.

What if a poster consistently doles out disagree bacons? For example in a post that says cons don’t consider trannys a slur and then immediately again when the poster concedes cons DO consider trannys a slur.

It’s a good thing we don’t have poo or tweety bird looney tune emoji’s. You’d get a lot of those. I can’t give you creative emojis because let’s face it none of your posts are creative but I suppose it’s a polite way of dismissing your posts better than a come one man.

Nonetheless it’s amusing to see your dual anxiety of the “trans trend” and the reactions you’re getting.

I don’t know how you can possibly deduce that. Not much space from a disagree emoji and a dislike emoji when it comes to it especially given some of the content. I personally dislike AND disagree with a lot of the things I read but couldn’t be bothered to dole out reactions all the time. Two solutions. More emojis - poo or tweety bird for example, or only a like or dislike button which is most commonly used on discussion forums.

adults should be able to handle a dislike reaction. I totally don’t care.
