I see your point but I don’t completely agree. At that age we have no idea what she was comprehending.

Things that want to grow and flourish usually do die in a barren wasteland.

I’m the anti-liberal but I can’t disagree with that. Democrats are thoroughly traumatized by Trump’s personality and there are more of them.

Trump, the first President in American history to be indicted. The MAGA’s are so proud.

Does it concern you at all that a former president has been indicted ? Or is that unlikely to happen until your ox is being gored ?

The new Barnes & Noble on Westshore Boulevard in Tampa has a GREAT book display. They set up a table of banned books right next to DeSaster's book. It looks like someone took advantage of the opportunity to spruce up the DeSaster table a bit.

Quick question... how are they banned if you can buy them at Barnes & Noble?

    Seriously?

Let's think about all the places we might go to find books, shall we? One such place is called a "library." Library is a really fun word. Can you say "library?" I bet you can. You might be surprised to learn there are more than one type of library. First, there's the type your mom and dad can go to check-out (borrow) books to take home and read or even read them right there. Those are called public libraries. They also have libraries at schools, those are called....yes, very good....school libraries. Another place to find books is at a book store. That's where people can go to buy books to keep forever and ever or give to friends to keep. We're learning a lot here, but learning can be fun.
Some bad people don't want people reading books. Reading books is how we learn and those people don't want you to learn, they want you to stay stupid. So the bad people order the people at the school libraries...we call them "librarians," another super fun word to say, to take those books away and hide them so people can't read them. We call that "book banning" and it doesn't sound very nice does it? That's because it's not. Sometimes all of the copies of the books everywhere are hidden...or even worse, burned. Sometimes you can find those books they hide from you at school at book stores. That's still really bad, they ban the book at your school and make you go find it someplace else where the mean people can't order the book people around.

I hope I have adequately addressed your question.

Well, I was just asking the question, and trying to be a little funny at the same time. You know, it's called "humor". Humor, like Library, can be a really fun word too. You should try it sometime instead of being such a SA.

I do not like the idea of book banning. Never have. But I do believe it's worth discussing the possibility of certain books not being in the best interest of young children at school. Still not sure that requires a ban. Now, if their parents have no issue with them reading a specific book, that's one thing. Go to Barnes & Noble and buy the book. Let the parent and child make that decision. For the book to be made available to all in a school library setting, without any sort of consent, that starts to become a little more of an issue for me. I guess it's all a matter of what we generally feel is appropriate for children based on age. Not an easy question to answer, but there are certainly cases of schools pushing the envelope with books that have, what some might consider, questionable content.

There’s a lot here, got dropped at 2 o’clock this afternoon and goes to committee at 2 tomorrow.

    https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/7050/BillText/pb/HTML

About five pages in it appears that first time voters can’t vote by mail. Making college students go home to vote? Sounds like the time Rick Scott tried to disallow polling places on campus.

What are they afraid of, hmm?
