I would concede that the meme on the bottom of my post was an exaggeration intended for effect. I stand by the rest of the post. In a post several days ago I mentioned that as a 10-year old I read a biography of Jackie Robinson which included a description of the pervasive racism in effect when he broke into Major League Baseball. I noted that two biographies of Jackie Robinson, a biography of Hank Aaron and a biography of Roberto Clemente were on a list of books considered for banning on the DeSantis anti-CRT law.

All children and teens are taught about slavery. Please stop spreading lies that Ron will stop all teaching of these subjects. It’s pretty bad.
    Florida is in good hands.

Let me refer you to post 2348 as to you “happily” explaining anything.

In post 2354 you said DuhSantis was going to stop it.

Just speculation, a book with a few paragraphs acknowledging the institution of slavery or the mention of Jim Crow would probably pass muster. A book containing detailed descriptions of the cruelty of the institution, the forcible breakup of families, the massacres of Tulsa and Rosewood, race-based lynchings in the South, etc. probably would end up on Governor Ron's banned list. Similarly, historic novels based on the history of racism in the US would also most likely end up on the list of banned books.

Good. I like that teachers are on alert to not bring their bias in the classroom.

Your silent refusal to "happily explain" confirms my suspicion.

I’m trying to play nice. I don’t think you want to get to know me. I’m okay with that. I don’t like to explain myself to people I suspect are trying to trap me.
    It’s all good.

Oh, but they are. And it's happening all over the state and not just at the elementary/middle school level. Other counties just haven't been quite as egregious about it with the possible exception of Manatee county.

Besides, anyone is free to comment on any post.

Desantis? More like Desaster, am I right? I don’t know how anyone can look objectively at anything he’s done recently and not think he isn’t an obvious fascist. There is going to come a time where all of this is going to backfire on him gloriously, and I’m here for it.

What exactly is it that you like? Trampling the first amendment? Telling private business how they should run their businesses? Cronyism for his buddies? Wasting over 17 million dollars defending garbage legislation that he has championed? Removing lawfully elected officials because he disagrees with them politically? Foisting a voodoo doctor on the rest of us as Surgeon General? Doing things that hurt the academic reputation of our university system and UF in particular?

    Those best things?

Thanks for confirming what you are saying is pure speculation. Let's wait and see what actually is taught and not taught before spouting off nonsense.

They love that he tries to own the libs and fights fake narratives and generated culture wars. In terms of things that actual matter, he’s absolute dog poop and has done nothing to actually make anyone’s lives better.

I was born and raised in Florida, lived my whole life in a small community and love it and the people, many of whom are Republicans. I don’t want to leave the state, I want to rid it of this fascist POS currently in charge.
