As an agnostic, I try not to hold peoples' religious beliefs or lack of beliefs against them, but Johnson apparently doesn't think much of the separation of church and state, and that's its own issue.
Not sure how the pubs expect to keep the house with him being the face of the house. I really hope that the country soundly rejects christian nationalism.
My hot take is Government and Religion are each powerful forces and should never be combined. Why you might ask, well the history of the world. Funny the religions of acceptance and not throwing stones always end up as bigots when in power
I wish I believed in God because I’d be comfortable in the belief he’s going straight to hell. On a positive note I’m on the fence about reincarnation. Maybe he’ll come back as a worm.
God was presumably okay with America's past sins, but I suppose we're really pushing the envelope now. https://thehill.com/homenews/lgbtq/4343114-mike-johnson-fundraising-email-lgbtq-youths/ House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) in a fundraising email sent Sunday said he worries that too many high school students are identifying as LGBTQ and “America may be beyond redemption.” “1 in 4 high school students identifies as something other than straight,” Johnson wrote in the email, first obtained by Punchbowl News. “What are they being taught in school?” **** “Our culture has fallen so far since the founding of our country, and it’s just getting worse,” he wrote. He later characterized a drop in church attendance over the past several decades as “frightening” and said, “God is mocked openly in the public square.” **** “Let’s face it — we live in a depraved culture,” Johnson wrote in Sunday’s email. “I didn’t want to believe it at first, but I fear God may allow our nation to enter into a time of judgment for our collective sins.”
