So the FBI now says the virus came from a lab leak

Exactly. And the common denominator here is that what the government told the people to justify their desire (war, election manipulation, and economic chaos) was false.

Lying and manipulation are the sole property of either political power.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that lab leak and a virus jumping from animals are equally plausible.

People all around the world are in constant contact with large concentrations of all forms of livestock, yet jumps are relatively uncommon.

Viruses that show signs of gain of function coincidentally “jumping” from a wet market near a lab known to be doing gain of function research is quite a bit more of a stretch.

I can see where public health, media and governments would want to believe in China lab leak. It takes the heat off their crimes against humanity.

    2 simultaneous echo chambers :)

I read China Miéville's The City and The City 10-15 years ago, and thought the premise was completely ridiculous (there are two cities overlapping each other and residents of each city ignore residents of the other city), but in the last 6 years or so we really have siloed ourselves and there are a great many Americans living side by side in different realities.

LOL ... yeah ... Trump wanted "economic chaos" in his reelection campaign year. Do you even hear yourself? You did get the part about him wanting election manipulation right, though, some how. Happy accident, I guess.

BTW, what do you think it more likely to cause those things? Saying it came from bats, or saying it was a bioweapon unleashed by China? If you really think the government lies to cause wars and chaos, then it sounds like you think the FBI and Dept of Energy are the ones lying...

Why would the Dems want to bury something that happened during the Trump Administration? Trump is an immature asshole. His behavior with respect to the pandemic was something I wouldn’t expect from a 5-year old. The world needs to collaborate to prevent future pandemics in the best case and to be prepared to minimize their effects when they do occur. That’s going to be tough to do when you have millions of jackasses who aren’t willing to cooperate.

Not going to bother with links since you most likely wouldn't read the linked articles but there have been numerous peer reviewed articles from respected scientists making the case that the virus did, in fact, jump from animals to humans via the Wuhan wet market. As I previously stated the source of the virus will probably never be conclusively determined and that zoonotic transmission or alternatively an accidental lab leak are equally plausible explanations.

If there was an infectious agent causing them to lose their leaves then yes you should get them treated or let them die.
Otherwise it’s part of their natural life cycle to lose leaves in the fall and sprout new ones in the spring.
It’s not part of of our natural life cycle to run fevers of 104 and develop viral pneumonitis from influenza.
Now mind you I’ve never gotten the flus shot as we have good medications that help treat and prevent the worst case sequela.

Simple for the most part they couldn’t stand him being right.
Remember how much criticism there was over the tariffs?
    How many has Biden rescinded?

Your attempt to equate tress losing their leaves in the winter(something that they predictably do every year) and people getting measurably sick from identifiable infectious agents falls on its face.

If I’m not mistaken the FBI report came out well before the recent DOE report.

Why would you never get a flu shot?

What are these infectious agents you’re hinting at ? How have they been proven (other than being inferred from simultaneous symptoms) ? And who were these bunch of people with simultaneous high fevers ? Finally, why do you imagine high fever necessarily points to an infectious agent ? Hell, never mind fever, it is well understood that clusters of people can die from non-infectious causes. See: Fukushima.

Again you presuppose infectious agents, let’s just go ahead and say viruses. I’m suggesting that just like trees, people ‘shed’, in a manner of speaking.

Trump was a complete fool for listening to the government “experts”. Yes the same system that produced the experts who talked about WMD.

Trump was/is a fool for crashing the economy in a futile attempt to stop a virus. Hint to all; it’s a virus. It’s going to go and do what it’s going to go and do. I will not forgive him for this.

I honestly think that the whole world was swept up in the panic created by public health. No dark conspiracy. Around the world, few government leaders had the resources to stand against it. But this is why I argue that the existence of viruses is THE root issue. None of this could have happened without a universal and abiding belief in germ theory.

He listened too much in this instance. Lockdowns went against his every instinct as he feared they would cause economic distress. And of course he was right.

I only give him that courtesy because he was fairly quick to not let Fauci continue the USG recommended shutdown. Maybe I am giving him too much credit.
