So the FBI now says the virus came from a lab leak

I’m not making the claim that we should blindly listen to all scientists. I haven’t made any claim at all. I am only asking for a justification of your claim. Me reading a virology paper will not help us, as I will either agree with you or the virologists, but your claim would still need justification either way.

Basically, if you can read about viral isolation and so clearly see that it isn’t real, why can’t all these scientists see the same thing? What is wrong with them and/or right with you that gives only you this power?

You’re engaging with a troll who doesn’t actually believe the positions he’s arguing. Just ignore him already.

Why do suppose I’m alone in my views ? And does it take some great power, other than the ability to read, perhaps on a college level, and conclude that no evidence for viruses has been presented ?

Who bears the burden of truth, really ?

“What can be presented without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.”

    — Christopher Hitchens —

I contend that viruses should damn well have been proven before blundering the world into the greatest geopolitical disaster since perhaps WWII.

I don’t think it matters if you are alone. As you pointed out above, if you had 2 billion people with you, it wouldn’t make your claims anymore true.

But I can speak to the second part: I know that it can’t only require college level reading, because if it did, all virologists would agree with you. As Montaigne pointed out 400 years ago, “For my judgment cannot make my companion's judgment accept it, which is a sign that I have grasped it by some other means than by a natural power that is in me and in all men.”

So if it isn’t reading ability, you must be apprehending this idea though some other means that is unavailable to the scientific community. What is it?

How can two-billion Muslims and all their many scholars not see it ?

What befalls a soldier when he forms the conviction that war is the worst thing and killing another is unconscionable ?

People can and do break free of the paradigms (and professions) that hold them captive.

I myself have had to do it.

Does my latest post answer the question ? There is sometimes a great cost to (re)examining the tenets of one’s profession. I’ve been through it.

Yes I think that answer does get at our problem. Unfortunately, it kicks our can into another problem. If you believe that the entire field of virology can be indoctrinated to believe an obviously false claim, how can you know that you are not under the same kind of spell?

Shorter explanation for my ‘Great Power’: I’m not a virologist, meaning that I’m not compensated for taking the tenets of that profession for granted, and I have nothing to lose for questioning them.

I’m quite sure that I’m misinformed about a number of things. That doesn’t mean I don’t have virology dead to rights. It really wasn’t that difficult.

Yeah these otherwise respectable posters here are making complete fools of themselves arguing with a person who purports to not believe in the existence of viruses. It is obvious trolling. I’m sure DD repeatedly laughs and shares with his buddies the gullible fools who continue to take his bait in spite of it being obviously absurd.

An article about the tragic death of a person who held a viewpoint on the existence of viruses similar to that of @duggers_dad.

Yes but judging by the amount of comments he posts this is likely his only interaction with other people. It's like a community service to reply to him.

Unfortunately, this just brings us right back to the beginning, as we’ve never answered the question of how you know that you have them dead to rights. They are convinced that they have you dead to rights, so clearly confidence in our beliefs is no evidence of their rectitude.

There’s been a great deal of energy spent discussing whether the wu-flu somehow “escaped from a Chinese lab in Wuhan or made the leap from a bat or fox-dog to a human via a “wet market” not too far from the suspect lab. What most agree is the wu-flu started in Wuhan. Regardless of the source of the initial infection, the Chinese governments are responsible for the genesis of the malady. Either they didn’t have adequate controls to prevent the lab leak and/or the CCP is incapable of protecting citizens from poorly operated “wet markets”.

Trust me, I’m under no illusion that I’m going to topple the field of virology. But you missed it. So I’ll repeat: I read their papers. And the reason I know virology is foundationally flawed is that, based on their own research, they cannot rightly claim to have isolated a virus (except in a most debased interpretation of the term). It is plainly evident, I think, that virologists are people who presuppose viruses and ‘see’ them into existence. Plus, although I am not obligated to posit a replacement paradigm, I see plenty of alternative explanations for clusters of symptoms.

I’d say you’re close. There is no question it started in Wuhan. What started in Wuhan ? Panic. Panic and nothing else started in Wuhan. And the panic rapidly engulfed the planet.
