Come on ... I read that report from the Dept of Energy, and it said they determined with low confidence that the virus may have been caused by a lab leak...

Let's at least start this discussion off with some accurate facts.

Two sources said that the Department of Energy assessed in the intelligence report that it had “low confidence” the Covid-19 virus accidentally escaped from a lab in Wuhan.

1. Given that it isn't an influenza virus, that would be pretty dumb. We have known it came from Wuhan in humans since before it even showed up in the US.

Despite 99% of the Republicans and Democrats wanting to make this a political issue....... I call bullshit.

The real issue is the truth. Personally speaking if it is proved that it was either an accidental or purposeful release of a biological weapon.......... China needs to be held to account.

Right now I think Congress should pass a bill demanding that the Li Chinese pay every American that died from this crap 1,000,000.00 and that's based on an "accidental" release from the lab.

If proved to be a biological warfare weapon of mass destruction with the intent of killing Americans............. WAR.

While no expert, for me it's almost inconceivable that Li would order the release of a biological weapon in his own country, but then, little would suprise me about the cynical nature of that man or his Gov't.

 

At this point why should it matter to average Americans where it came from? Don’t we have bigger issues to address?

I am personally not sure where the virus came from (though I still lean toward spillover), but if I were in congress, I’d probably have the same stance as Aguilar here. Privacy and security protocols exist for a reason, and I don’t think the opposing party should be able to override them just for curiosity, whether we are dealing with intelligence on COVID or Trump’s taxes.

 

Those of us called every name in the book for even positing this as a theory would like an apology.

Not just an apology, but how about some accountability? Accident or not, China manufactured the virus and allowed it to escape the lab. They then went on a coverup campaign that made Watergate look like a game of recess at school when we were kids.
