As I mentioned in the bowl thread, I would be doing this "season recap" of the first season to throw out a few ideas that might make the contest a little better. Also, any suggestions from you guys that may do the same. Again, I'm not trying to revamp the whole thing, just maybe a few tweaks or additions. Here are a few that I was kicking around. 1. Name of contest. SmootyGator's Pick'Em... could be better, and I dunno, just feel weird about my handle being the name. Any suggestions? 2. Games won as a stat. I keep record of how many games are won each week. It is also the tie-breaker in case of a tie. Would ya'll want to see that posted every week along with the standings? Or maybe just after weeks 5 and 10 and then before the bowls? 3. Random selections for missed picks. This is something I would do in case someone happened to miss a week's picks. This wouldn't be for someone that quits... just for those that miss a week, maybe 2. Everyone has real life stuff that gets in the way, and after all, this is just a dumb contest... but, missing one week really puts you behind, and that seems dumb for an "excused" absence. Another alternative might be letting everyone drop their lowest week total. 4. Bonus Points. This was just something silly I came up with. It would be "bonus" points each week that I would give out based on random stuff. The "bonus Points" are a separate point pool and could be the second tie-breaker after number of wins (highly unlikely to ever come down to it). I would just reward points for a clever post, or maybe to someone that was the only person that picked a certain team that week. They would essentially be meaningless, but might make the weekly threads more fun. 5. Career Stats. With the spreadsheet, it could be fairly easy. Is that something you would want to see? 6. Week 0. We didn't make any picks for Week 0. The matchups aren't normally very good, but it could be done. I would imagine that most people would start off with 13-15 points after the first week if we did it. 7. Bowl Week(s). I thought about possibly dividing up bowls into 2 or maybe even 3 separate weeks. Not sure about this one though... I kind of like having the 10 picks at the end. Also, with the 12 team playoffs coming up, it might change things a little bit. Now that I think about it, there might be a couple cool ideas we could do for the playoffs.... That's all I have... let me know how y'all feel about about these, and I will possibly make changes next season depending. Also, feel free to post any other suggestions you might have. This. I like the name and game. No tweaks needed. I hate the idea of random picks. People who devote their time to actually participating should not see the picks subsidized for those who do not.
Bonus pick would be a good thing. It should have your name in it keep that Thank you sure it takes up a lot of time.
I agree. Enjoyed it just as you presented it. Maybe do 7 games at the end instead of 10 and do a bonus for the Bowls/playoffs
The only thing I would possibly change is do one round of picks for the other bowls and then a round of picks for the playoffs. I do not like the bonus points idea.
