Just like on the field, it’s bad news after bad news. I guess it has more to do with how we handle nil than with our staff. It doesn’t look like we have the money to compete.
Uhm he did it at Ole Miss. Now he’s doing it again. If they couldn’t do it with the last guy then Freeze is the difference.
Merry Flipmas. Not for us, though.... It's pretty sad. There's always that one school that gets punked and drops like a stone in the rankings on singing say. Even though we have some really, really good players, it's us this year with what could have been. We'll be one of the "losers" they talk about on signing day and it doesn't help the image after two 5-7 seasons with Napier. Not good at all.
I don’t buy the argument that the bad record is playing a part in this. Tons of kids have committed to schools in the past that weren’t winning programs due to the allure of early playing time. I think it’s just a multitude of factors at play here, but mainly kids having no loyalty anymore due to the idiocy of the NIL.
I’m told by more than one informed source that the money is there but we just aren’t going to buy a team of a bunch of greedy kids and greedy dads for immediate impact. I personally like that approach because a more stable building strategy may well turn out to have more lasting success. The only problem with it is that impatient fans and boosters may be so damned demanding for immediate results that Napier may not be given the time to do this the right way. You want to throw more money at a mercenary like McCray than we’ve agreed to with Lagway?
Napier's only goodwill with Gator Nation is recruiting. And he has basically insinuated that without Georgia/Bama type talent he can't compete. Now he's refusing to sign that talent because they're greedy? This argument cannot go both ways. You either sign top talent regardless of the baggage that comes with it or you do more with less, which he has clearly proven he cannot do. Like I said on another thread, this day has been disastrous for Napier so far. Lets hope he has one or two surprises in stock because otherwise that patience from fans will run out.
I had a feeling after the dreadful home loss to Arkansas this class would begin to fall apart and it sure has, I am sure the on field record isn't the only factor but so much negativity has crept in it is easy to recruit against us! No disrespect to all of those kids who have actually signed with us but this is a bad day and I have a feeling it is going to get much worse in a couple of hours, hope I am wrong!
