Gotta say I'm glad On3 has egg on their face for several of our commits. They seemed to try their hardest to dis UF and Billy and this class as often as they could. Screw them they were very biased against us in my opinion
Yes just HS. Don’t other schools have transfers in /JUCO also? My question is why we had the lowest HS signees in the top 19?
My guess is because we held spots for the commits that flipped and they didn't want to use schollys for filler hs players when those fell through. Might as well save the spots for transfers.
Part of it is we lost a couple more than we gained (HS recruits) and this is just the early signing period. There is still on more singing day to come. We can also pick up more portal guys and that period goes on for two more weeks I believe. And we are up against the 85 scholarship limit. We usually don't do like some other places and oversign and then force kids out to make the 85 limit.
Thought we were talking about 'rights' not privileges. They do have the privilege to play, or not play. They also have the privilege to make money if it is offered. OTH no one makes them commit to a school at any particular point. But there used to be an understanding of what a commitment meant when offered. But, that seems like a long time ago. BTW. someone opined that a school could pull an offer. We know that a coach who did that would be roasted. Guess I am outdated. But when I committed to USN flight training, if I had then rescinded that commitment my butt would have been drafted. In fact if I had later opted out, I would have been swabbing decks. Consequences.
Because we lost SEVEN (or was it 8) committed players to other teams in the last month. If "committment" meant what it used to mean, we'd have a large class and would be top 3. Instead, we have to keep away the vultures, and still recruit our current players. I like who we got, but some VERY good talent that intended to come to Gainesville got away.
That opens up portal slots for college conditioned and tested players. We should go hard for the top players where we lost recruits
Dike (pronounced Dee-Kay) is not a difference maker on our offense. He might provide depth and some help on PR/KR. His role was minimal for new coach at Wisconsin this year and I wouldn’t expect him to be a difference maker. He provides good speed and depth. He is literally from city where I live so I have seen him in HS and college up close.
This is short-sighted view. Kyle Trask was a 2-3 star coming out of HS viewed as a project. He was obviously better than 2-3 star talent as he proved on the field. There are many reasons players are underrated by recruiting services.
Some are over-rated, some under-rated. Its easy to pick out lots of outliers but by and large the recruiting rankings are a pretty fair representation of the players.
