By: Terrance Biggs -- June 23, 2024 Within the confines of the Florida Gators 3-3-5 offense, Sharif Denson steps into the STAR role. As a result, the pressure on his shoulders intensifies. Some of Gators faithful may not know who Denson is, but with solid play, he becomes a household name in The Swamp. The road ahead for Denson does not look easy. However, with his talent, preparation and positional execution, the sophomore will enjoy a strong season in Gainesville. Florida Gators Budding STAR on Defense
If he gets all sec talk, that’s the type of surprises we need on defense to realistically start talking about beating teams other than Sanford, Ucf, and Miss St. we need several young guys to make their mark this year. We don’t have returning stars.
Boy is there ever a time that we need some kids to step up their game. I hope Denson is one of them. We also have a few transfers that should be offering immediate help. And, I truly believe our new coaches on "D" will make a huge difference. We'll eventually need to get to that place we were at during the Meyer and Spurrier eras. When we needed a first down, we simply willed ourselves into getting it. It was practically automatic, with Tebow, Harvin or any other number of other determined contributors! The defensive side of that is getting stops, when we need stops!! Then there was one of the few times that we didn't get it and it changed the game for the better and it became Gator lore, inscribed on bronze plaques that became fastened to the walls, reminding us of the paradigm shifts and determination that players assumed and embraced! We will not be denied. How much of this is mental? How much is physical? How much is coaching? Heck if I know. But logic tells me greatness will emerge when the pieces are in place and they earn the right to take it for themselves. Go Gators
All hands on deck, and we need all of our play-makers to play as one unit. We are adding daily to that list of play-makers and I think Lagway is the one recruit that put us on the map, so to speak. Even though he's an offensive guy we see more talent coming in on the defensive side of the ball too. Sharif is just a sophomore so he's got more room to grow and that's great news for our young-ish defense.
Hopefully our star is the Bionic strength and conditioning. Build the better, stronger and faster! for the coaches CoQ10
