My son went to the Swamp to eat yesterday after the baseball game. Saw Lagway there, Wuerffel and Doering were there as well. Seems like we brought a lot of people in to talk to the recruits. The recruits being a part of “Return to Excellence” seems to be the theme.

 

That is very, very cool.

Thanks for sharing. While I always preferred in season OVs you can see why the coaches like these summer ones. There is just no way the coaching staff could participate and be involved as much during a game day weekend as they are in the summer. Tons of work going in to these visits.

During the season would be too late for most. Save for a handful, recruiting & OVs are a summertime activity in todays world.

New On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick for Florida Gators

Ahem.....

On Saturday evening, Gators Online submitted an On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick for Florida to land On300 linebacker Kris Jones. My confidence level for the pick is at 75 percent.
The Gators are currently hosting 17 official visitors, with Jones being one of the headliners in the group.
Jones, a four-star prospect from Fairfax (Va.) High, is the No. 15 linebacker and No. 149 prospect overall in the 2024 class. He is the top-ranked rising senior in Virginia as well. That’s all according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
I was previously on the fence about submitting a pick due to the upcoming OV to Georgia; however, I am told Florida is knocking it out of the park with his family this weekend. It’s been all positive buzz.
This latest batch of intel now has me comfortable enough to log a prediction for Florida, which already boasts one of the premier linebacker classes with Myles Graham and Adarius Hayes already in the fold.
With my prediction official, the Gators’ odds in the RPM are now up to 87 percent.

It’s actually the school I’ve been leaning toward in recent weeks. Georgia is UF’s top competition and I don’t see that changing as long as Jones is on the market; however, the sense is that Florida is really separating itself this weekend. Much of that can be credited to Jones’ time reconnecting with the staff, especially Jay Bateman. It’s definitely been a group effort though.
Even before the visit, the All-American said Florida is the school he has the best relationship with. There is just a lot of comfort in Gainesville for Jones and his family. That upcoming trip to Athens, if he takes it, is something to definitely monitor, but the Gators are trending as the favorite right now.
That same source said Jones has relished his time meeting and hanging out with additional recruits. It has been red-carpet treatment from the staff, but the time spent with additional visitors continues to be a highlight as well.

 

It’s a different world today with NIL. All indications are that it was a successful weekend. I’m sure we will get some commitments out of this even if they don’t commit today.

 

Considering the Jubilee buildup, it's not unreasonable for Gator Nation to be just
a tad let down that Sunday midnight is fast approaching with nary a commit for the good guys.

Having said that, CBN was able to sign a solid crew last year, with high core scoring recruiting averages, and has continued that trend with the eight we have signed so far.

And it's not impossible someone calls it for UF this week.

No doubt the staff is working it hard and I'm sure we will see this weekends efforts pay off, for a few of the recruiting visitors, when the final tallies are in.

I don't think it is December yet. You might want to watch another year of college football before you worry about who has signed for your favorite team and rivals.

Respectfully no, not even close. Kinda depends on the “sales cycle”. I spent 40+ years in long sales cycle capital equipment ($$$$) sales. Led whatever company I happened to be with pretty much every year, and NEVER, not even once, received an order, or even a verbal commitment, with the prospect right in front of me; just not the way it works. Big time, big money, valued product sales is a process. It involves rapport building, identification of the decision maker(s), LOTS of probing, education, multiple demonstrations of product benefits, availability, communication over time, overcoming objections, comparisons with the competition, visits, testimonials from others and respect, etc. etc. etc. It takes time, and you cannot force an order, or your prospect to place his, her or their order until they are ready to do so. Long sales cycle sales is both fun and rewarding, but it is also sometimes heartbreaking. Still, you’re not making big time decision sales with some kind of magic in-person, face-to-face, sales “close”. And if you do, there will be “buyers remorse” and the prospect will very much (even should) back out.

“Closing” the deal with pressure? Works for selling shoes or insurance maybe — but it’s the wrong sales tactic for long-term building value, credibility, and prestige. Post of the day!
