Where was everyone pregame? I parked and walked onto commerce street around 5:40 it was 95-5 Houston fans. I was like uh oh, what did I get myself into. Once I finally got into the fan area it was more 50-50.

I heard Houston fans around me complaining about their 3 hour drive.

As someone who decided to go after there were literally no seats available on a Sunday flight out of my hometown and thus drove 5 times that distance to get there (I did thankfully get a flight back :p), it was absurd to hear what an inconvenience they thought traveling a few hours to attend the national championship was.

Whole bunch of Gators at the Westin for Gator Walk then, a whole bunch more in/around the Hard Rock, but even my walk from that area to the dome was a sea of orange & blue.

If you parked on Commerce on the East side of I-37, most of the Gator fans were likely coming from the Riverwalk area and using the Skybridge entrance to the Alamodome on the west side of the interstate.

Yeah it was fine once we got into the fan fest. We took that route to the stadium.

During college I was a waiter at Emiliano's, a downtown restaurant in Gainesville. I was working during the game (at Kentucky?) when we won our 1st SEC title (later vacated). We had the radio playing in the kitchen listening to the game. Patrons kept asking for an update. The whole restaurant cheered when we announced that we won. People were celebrating in the street. It was epic!

This was my impression as well. If you're traveling from further away you're more likely to want to splurge a little on seats. Houston had way more fans in the upper levels, but lower level was closer to 50-50 with maybe a slight edge to Houston.

But the Riverwalk was like 80% Gators on Monday.

[QUOTE="WESGATORS, post: 17671137, member: 5285] I'd be curious to know how the student experience was behind the goals.

I know my son had a blast. He said it was tough to see during the game but great atmosphere. Plus they had a front row seat for the net cutting and post game ceremony. Definitely better than anything I got to do my senior year !:D

My son and I went to the 2006 football SEC CG. Stayed at the GC / team hotel, did the all-day fan-fest, stayed to watch the trophy presentation and high-five players leaving the field, walking out with the sea of exultant Gators. Made for a great memory. I can only imagine what y'all experienced.
