The FBI said Friday that a bullet or fragments of it struck Donald Trump's ear during an assassination attempt on the former president this month at a campaign rally.

“What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle," the FBI said in a statement.

The statement comes two days after FBI Director Christopher Wray, whom Trump nominated to his post in 2017, told House lawmakers that "there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that, you know, hit his ear."

 

Such a missed grifting opportunity with the miraculous healing: the chance to wear and then sell American flag-emblazoned, tampon-sized bandages.

 

They've literally had high def still photos of the vapor trail on the bullet since the day after the assassination attempt. That the FBI director would mention shrapnel after having more than a week to investigate the scene to find no shrapnel or evidence of a bullet hitting the teleprompter, is appalling and disgusting. That the FBI had to issue this statement to correct their own director is appalling and disgusting. This was a ******* assassination attempt of a former president. You don't get it wrong this badly unless you're compromised. No one is that big of an idiot. If he wanted to equivocate, he could have said something like "all the available evidence indicates it was a bullet." But shrapnel? Dude's a joke. Yes, Trump appointed Wray, because he had to appoint somebody the Senate would confirm. He never trusted Wray.
