Hadn't thought about that but you may be right. There's so Ronin 47. Have not seen other and don't even know if there's a connection. But that is interesting. Perhaps someone has seen them can weigh in as to whether it might have significance

And car deaths per capita are less than half of what they were in the late 1960's. Why? Regulations and new safety measures.

The overall crime rate is much lower than it was in the early 90s. Mass shootings involving high capacity assault weapons are much higher. Huh, I wonder what we can do? How can we possibly address that?

    Good post.

I've always thought we're not putting more emphasis on being a good person. There are other factors at play but what ever happened to people taking pride in how they behave?

Number one, stop making it such a political issue. Yes report it and yes say what you want about gun control but putting it on the air 24 hrs a day for weeks is driving kids to think it is normal behavior. Like I said we had guns when I was young but mass shootings weren't driven down our throats. The Texas tower shooting of the 60s was one of the biggest news stories of the time but it was reported and talked about, not preached about 24 hours a day. It was taken for what it was, a terrible individual doing a terrible thing. Today it is not as much about the individual and the act as it is about those evil guns.

The 2nd Amendment was interpreted far differently when we were growing up in the 50's and 60's. It's become a political issue for one reason only: gun manufacturers and its NRA lobbying arm decided a number of decades ago to make more money and to bribe members of Congress to help them. The result has been a warped interpretation of the 2nd Amendment and a proliferation of guns with no meaningful regulation.

It's insanity. I agree, it's the mentally ill who commit mass killings. Do you agree there would be far fewer of them with fewer guns or at least more stringent regulation of them?

that’s all incorrect. The Texas shooting was certainly covered. If anything it was covered more. They made a movie out of it. Now our nation moves quickly on from it. And yes there were guns “when you were a kid” but nothing like the proliferation we have now and especially assault weapons. There is more to mass shootings than it’s covered too much.
