It's an American culture of gun violence. What's the point of your question? And you really need stats to suggest that American gun violence is out of control? Here's just one. Gun violence might even be worse in the years since 2019. Gun-related violence occurs all around the world, including (to a lesser extent) countries in which guns are illegal. However, out of the estimated 250,227 gun-related deaths worldwide in 2019, 65.9% occurred in just six countries: Brazil, the United States, Venezuela, Mexico, India, and Colombia. Gun Deaths by Country 2022 Countries with the Highest Total Gun Deaths (all causes) in 2019 Brazil — 49,436 United States — 37,038 Venezuela — 28,515 Mexico — 22,116 India — 14,710 Colombia — 13,169 Philippines — 9,267 Guatemala — 5,980
Somehow this has totally eclipsed the news that 4 coeds were murdered at the University of Idaho today
my bad I missed the mention. But these are 4 very attractive young women (and a frat kid) you’d think it would be splashed all over the news but only significant mention is the daily mail and daily beast
4 University of Idaho students slaughtered with knife: cops The four University of Idaho students who were found dead at an off-campus home Sunday were butchered with a knife in what police are now investigating as “targeted” murders, officials said. The Moscow Police Department said Tuesday all four deaths have been ruled homicides, meaning that detectives believe that none of the victims was responsible for the killings.
The police comments on the Idaho case are interesting. They either have a really strong suspect or absolutely nothing. I have been surprised about the no danger to the public comments not blowing up.

The coroner and a police officer said this was the worst crime scene they had ever seen so I believe the bodies were cut up. The cops seem incompetent since at first they said there was no threat to the community from the killer when they didn't even know who, the motive or the whereabouts of the killer.
Excellent. That is a start ... now get the republican politicians to say and do this and we can start making progress. Here is a hint. It won't happen! Any discussion of gun controls turns into a "they are going to take away our guns!" knee jerk response.
Capitalism together with low-socioeconomic status could also be factors in gun violence. At 1.4 billion people, India has four times as the population of the United States (roughly 330 million); so their rates of gun violence would be much lower when compared to that country's population. On the other hand, Mexico's population is roughly 1/3 of the US so their rate of gun violence would be significantly higher than the US's. Since Mexico is a border country that violence can easily spill over into the United States. Canada should equally be worried from the USA's excesses. Population by Country (2022) - Worldometer Here is a better list from the same site based on population & gun violence. There seems to be a high association of gun violence by countries from Latin America & people of Hispanics origins. I would suspect that machismo (& a feeling of belittling one's masculinity by another) rather than just mental illness alone plays a role in the violence. Many would rather just walk away from a fight rather than have a confrontation. Countries with the Highest Rates of Violent Gun Death (Homicides) per 100k residents in 2019 El Salvador — 36.78 Venezuela — 33.27 Guatemala — 29.06 Colombia — 26.36 Brazil — 21.93 Bahamas — 21.52 Honduras — 20.15 U.S. Virgin Islands — 19.40 Puerto Rico — 18.14 Mexico — 16.41
Interesting thoughts. As for your list, none except for perhaps Brazil would be considered First World Nations (I recognize that USVI & PR are U.S. territories, but that only conflates the issue of gun violence in the U.S.). Compare U.S. to other similar societies and we're extraordinarily unique in terms of gun violence. I doubt "machismo" has much to do with gun violence in Latin American countries, but wouldn't entirely dismiss it as a factor. More likely are the effects of availability of guns, low SES, government instability, and proliferation of gangs.
Apparently 2 women were in the house the entire time and survived. No word on if they were asleep or incapacitated in someway by the killer
