Shooter was apparently a former football player for UVA. From Richmond and went to UVA on academic scholarship. Sad stuff.
Not yet. You have to wait for the thoughts and prayers to pour in, people arguing about gun control, zero actions … then we are back to normal.
They rarely are. The vast majority of mass shootings are targeted to the people the shooter felt wronged by, or the place where the perceived persecution took place.
My early guess would be he got bullied in the locker room, but if he was only there in 2018, he never would have met someone who was only just now a junior on the team. Poor guy had nothing to do with it.
Y’all can make the easy and simple claim “guns!” But there are so many more factors. Big Pharma would be a great place to start - we door the kids up from the time they can walk/talk. To active …take this pill. Feel sad…take this pill. Lethargic from that last pill… take this pill… can’t concentrate in school… here’s a pill. Can’t stay awake in school… here’s a pill… too much pressure at work or school or marriage… here’s a pill… Unstable home life is almost always a factor if the shooter is younger Social media is almost always a factor. Yelling guns is just a simplistic feel good look at me I’m doing SOMETHING phrase.. Now I will agree that our politicians will not even try to truly tackle the issues at hand. Too many votes at stake. Too much lobbying power, too much dark money. Sad.
Well if not "mental illness", what would you call it? Normal people, no matter how much they may feel wronged by someone, do not decide it's a good idea to shoot someone.

America is a gun violent nation, don't get mad at me for pointing it out. The ugly truth isn't easy to swallow.
We could have the best mental health system in the world full of good families and such, and I'm not sure that would matter if everyone is armed and they can pull out a gun in any situation where they get mad, feel threatened, want to assert themselves, etc. Particularly when you are dealing with young, aggressive men. Also a good mental health system would essentially support the notion that having easy access to a gun is bad for both your personal safety and mental health.
But at the end of the day, unless there is a total ban on all guns AND a means to collect them from everyone, there's no way to stop it completely. Even those that support gun control realize that there is no way to get a total ban. Unless they are trying the baby step method to get little by little changes until they are outlawed.
And what culture in America has an out of control gun violence problem? Please provide stats and data
