Shariff Floyd was hired by the Dallas Cowboys as an Asst. D-Line coach/analyst. He has been at UF the last 2 years as a part of "The Army" (Mullen & CBN) while he attended classes to finish his degree. Many may remember him as an All-American DT at UF who went in the 1st round of the draft (Vikings). He had a promising start to his career derailed by crazy complications after the surgery to fix his horrific knee injury. He moonlighted with the Cowboys on 2 different occasions as a guest coach while here the last 2 years. I guess they really liked what they saw and gave him a job. CBN & former/current players that worked with Floyd while he was here have nothing but glowing remarks for his future as a coach. Hopefully he makes it back to UF at some point as a full-time paid assistant. This fits the narrative, that UF can sell to recruits, that UF definitely takes care of their own after the days of playing between the hashmarks is over.
Your title had me thinking he was going to be an UGA coach. But it was effective in getting me to read your thread. Lol
Was he a former UGA coach? The post is confusing; it suggests that he has been at UF for two years, but not as a coach.
Still, thanks for bringing the news. Thrilled for Shariff. Hoping to see more of our guys in the coaching pipeline. I’m getting tired of a coaching group that has very few ties to the program. Also don’t like that our guys have to go to other schools ( especially rivals) to build their experience and resumes.
Unfortunate that his career was cut short due to injuries. One of my favorite Gator Players of all time. Congratulations & Good luck
Floyd played DT at UF for Dan Quinn when Dan coached here. Nice that he is giving back to his former players and helping them succeed after playing career is over
