Just wanted to post this here separately so y’all don’t miss it as he covers a lot of the same stuff we discuss here. Play calling - he’s heard that Billy called the Samford game and Callaway called the Miami game. As far as the deep ball, we just haven’t called it with Mertz or against SEC opponents Clock management / coaching / emotion - the timeout Billy called to start the 4th was because Tre lined up wrong. That was the first time he saw Billy chewed out a player and his position coach. Kiffen - Florida is his dream job https://www.youtube.com/live/WL47-b94V8M?si=8klYb37WzIuT_ycu
Oh boy. So if he didn’t call plays and that’s what we got…. Doesn’t bode well. Kiffey dream job? Oh boy.. Thanks for posting!
I give BG props on here a lot, but BG has been chewed out on live TV by every head coach he has had at UF. That's kinda crazy when you think about it, especially considering the quality of a lot of his units over the years.
One of the takeaways is that he says Mertz can make all those throws aside from the one to Mizell. Also that the Lagway doesn’t look that good in practice and thar Wuerffel was a horrible practice player.
Does the dream job comment work like when a recruit calls Florida his dream school only to commit and sign elsewhere?
I tend to agree with you based on his willingness of taking shots. I’m just discussing arm talent and Shane has always been high on Mertz saying he’s a Spurrier QB and that he has a better arm than Brock Purdy.
I’m sure Ole Miss is a sweet gig right now with moderate expectations so that UF job may not look as dreamy.
Tre is still a young player…and think we are treating him with kit gloves like we did Percy. I didn’t like that he was pouting in the first half last week.
He’s a true freshman. I’m sure he’s got his ups and downs and was also suffering some shoulder fatigue towards the end camp there.
It's his opinion and he might be right, but later in the podcast he said Jared Goff is one of the best to ever do it. I had to cut it off after that.
Then I think we also can't have head coaches saying things like: we are going to wear him out. That sets the stage for unrealistic expectations. He is going to have to learn to be an all around better receiver to be used in all different situations.
Kiffin - Florida is his dream job? Where is this coming from, was he paid by Billy Sexton to say that so that both Kiffin and Sexton get a huge payday at year end? There is so much noise in the system. Sure the banter has calmed slightly with a win, but it was against Samford. It’s a long year, each game with be telling. Oh, And there’s that 24mil dollar buyout.
Maybe the reason the best players don't look good in practice is because they're always pushing themselves to improve, which means they're trying new things with learning curves attached to high risk/high reward. They're not going to repeat these mistakes in games because they've already made them in practice. The ham and eggers are what they are. And maybe Spurrier was the only one with the brains to understand the difference and play Danny anyway.
