Seems to be a lot of this going on. Bad hires makes a bad team. People change over the years and it is tough to maintain excellence, even for a ton of cash.

    Horrible optics if true

It is official. Believe the hype. Mark Hocke to be reassigned. I hope he is reassigned to something outside from UF football operations until he moves on from UF.

Thank you for your time, Coach Hocke, and I wish you ALL the best of success in whatever you do,

Yeah, if true then this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. So we are going to keep a guy around the program who will most certainly will be disgruntled because we can’t afford to fire him? Then he is supposed to play nice with the new guy instead of trying to sabotage him? Who’s making these decisions? Are there any classes at UF on HR management?

Here is the direct quote today by Billy. It sure sounds like Hocke is moving to the coaching side:

"I think, like we talked about previously, we're kind of in -- we've been in an evaluation mode. I do anticipate some different leadership there, different approach there. You guys all know Mark [Hocke]. Mark's an unbelievable leader, person. He's done an unbelievable job for me personally for six years. I can't compliment him enough in terms of character and loyalty. One of the things that Mark and I have always talked about is what's next for him in his career? Ultimately we're going to try to help Mark with that, and he's going to be doing different things for our organization, a lot more upstairs, kind of making some of that transition into the coaching element. He's always had aspirations to do those things, and I think that presents an opportunity for us to bring new leadership from a strength and conditioning standpoint. And I do think that we're right in the middle of that process. But I can't compliment Mark enough relative to the work he's done for us. We wouldn't be here without Mark Hawke. I'm excited about helping Mark pursue some of the things that he and I have always discussed."

That's just some wishy-washy way of removing the guy and trying not to hurt his feelings too much. Just rip the band-aid right off and let the guy go if he's not getting the job done. Can't stand it with these guys and their misplaced loyalty that ends up costing them their own HC job. BN's loyalty should be to his players and to his employer.

Probably going to be an "expert" on an ESPN show. I can't hardly wait...

It could be S&C has a very large lumpsum buyout, and it may be better to move him to a desk and pay his salary for 2-3 years rather than a lumpsum buyout. Eventually he may go out and find another S&C gig and leave on his own accord, saving us the buyout. Just speculating on this.
CBN definitely said there will be new leadership, which means we will hire someone else.

Maybe, but watching 260 pound ends push both our tackles around tells me very different. I’d also say proper strength and conditioning can impact a defensive lineman’s numbers in a positive manner. I know that’s a give. But some say it doesn’t change or won’t change numbers.

I’d also say on the contrary as we have too many guys that look out of shape, look tired, and some that are quite a bit smaller. As another poster said “other team’s wr’s look like our linebackers”.

I doubt that there was a lack of conditioning. Hoche is likely a scapegoat for either lack of talent or player development. S&C coaches are birds on a wire. The way they work is standard boilerplate.

Hocke would not be the talent aspect at all, as players come with abilities, and then they must be developed by coaches in practice, on the field, film, study, etc., etc.

Agree to disagree on lack of conditioning and overall strength development as that showed on the field entire year, meaning I say we lack in conditioning and strength development.

Early in the thread I opined that there is zero evidence that S&C improves on-field performance. Although it can injure or predispose to injury.

How so ? What programs aren’t using weights and various other implements, sleds, tires, sprints, parachutes, agility and balance drills and the like ?
