That's usually how it works for me. I have colleagues who I'm in a group text with for business purposes and we sometimes share funny jokes and memes. A couple of them make it a point to share memes that clearly shows their political affiliation, even though I've never once broached the topic of politics with them.

My handy man and his wife are Trumpers. They live down the street and they are smart enough to avoid political discussions. They also are a barrel of contradictions. Mexicans are stealing our country but their 17 year old daughter boyfriend is a non documented Mexican who lives with them.

Yep I have a colleague who is from Texas that calls the Civil War the war of Northern Aggression. I’m familiar with the term and why it’s used. Never mind the tone deafness of saying that to a black man, but he’s said to me that he doesn’t even know what the 1/6ers did wrong. Me and him are actually cool though. Many other people made it a point to let me know they “don’t watch the NBA” or “don’t watch the NFL anymore”. Passive aggressive stuff like that happens all the time.

I don’t seek it out, but I don’t run from it either.

My neighbor is a great guy. Very religious, very conservative.
I asked him a few months ago that if after all the failed lawsuits, all the audits that only confirmed the results, after the revelations that Fox knew it was broadcasting bs … did he still believe the election was stolen?
    He said he did.
I am honestly curious how and why he can still believe that, but I didn’t think it was worth pushing it.

Angry people stay angry regardless if their situation changes or is real. Add two decades of 24/7 propaganda telling them they are right in their beliefs and you have a new religion. Getting made the boss, elected, promoted, whatever doesn’t matter, angry is their new persona. Don’t tread on me, i.e., your not the boss of me is the national mantra.

If you did actually believe the election was stolen, why would you continue to participate in normal politics again? What's the mentality of someone who is like "well, maybe this next election will be legit even though basically nothing has changed, so I better continue to vote and behave normally."

Conspiracy theorists are not skeptical, they are aggressively gullible.

We already know it has become a code phrase. It's funny when people say it as if they are sneaking something past us that we aren't aware of.

Many speculated that it would/did negatively impact GOP turnout in close Senate races. Whether it made the difference or not, I don't know. Obviously, the GOP turned out and won the House, so who knows. Either way, it's an example of Trump putting himself above not only the country but also his own party.

I avoid it because it's a pain in the ass to deal with someone who throws nothing but misinformation at you and expects you to debate it. It's amazing how misinformed many right-wingers are. Debating people who fervently believe their misinformation is pointless, though I do it here. But here I can choose what to respond to and I can just turn it off (or put them on ignore) when it gets too ridiculous. If it's some guy on a bar stool next to me the only way out is to get up and leave.

Man I hate to be the contrarian here.

I stopped watching pro sports many moons ago. Just lost interest as I got older. I’ll watch the Super Bowl and some World Series games. Basketball just doesn’t interest me at all. Even UF basketball has lost its luster for me and I had season tickets for years when I lived in Gainesville.

I grew up a huge Celtics, Reds, and Baltimore Colts fan. Not anymore.

I’m curious why you think saying that you don’t watch pro football and basketball is code for being racist or prejudiced?

Isn’t that somewhat assuming? Serious question.

It depends how they say it and the context, but it’s not coincidental that they tell you this.

Yours is a normal instance of losing interest in sports over the course time, it naturally happens to many people. There’s a difference between this, and actively telling (and constantly reminding) people you stopped watching particular sports because the athletes are woke.

I wont say I know none, but I know very few and I have a pretty broad conservative circle.

Typical. Reminds me of a friend that railed against illegals, but wife's biz employed a couple.

Have a friend I've known since HS tell me awhile back that he no longer watches NFL or NBA, which is somewhat understandable because I don't watch nearly as much as I used to either. However, the kicker was him telling me that he is now a Lightning fan..
I've known him for 50 years and he is only a casual sports fan at best (probably couldn't name one Lightning player), but have no doubts he was just making a backdoor political statement.

Yet somehow in polls a large majority of Republicans continue to say they think the election was stolen.
