Right.... he has the machine rolling and he's trying to crush anyone that gets in the way. I'm expecting the same here. Outside of the Spurrier, Urban was the only one who understood bombing your rivals is the only goal, besides winning
What is this fascination with Urban? He's not coming...period. He's also damaged goods. It's the same crap from you guys all over again. There are actually some of you that keep bringing up Bob Stoops. You are the very definition of insane. Urban has already said he hates NIL and the portal. He won't play the game much like Dabo. Do you think we would survive if we never went to the portal? The portal is the life blood of a program now. If you don't participate, the portal will by taking your new 5 star high school recruits when they transfer out. The fact is college football is now the way of Kentucky basketball, one-and-done. It's either Kiffen or Napier right now. Not many out there that are homerun hitters that are available.
Leipold would by number 1 pick. He is a miracle worker and has proven it several times, at Buffalo and then at Kansas.
Remember hearing how Napier labored through self-evaluation and corrections? Sounds pretty hilarious in restrospect.
Many posters just plain stuck in the past. There's also this misguided idea of "proven." We need to hire a guy that's on the way up, not a has been.
How exactly is he damaged goods? It’s not like he failed in college. He dominated recently. So what it didn’t work at for the Jags. Saban didnt work at Miami. Id rather Kiffin but Urban gets us in the playoffs in 2 years (honestly probably in 2025). He’s that good. So So what if he doesn’t stay for 10 more years? We need a reputation rebuild
Well, I think we need to hire a proven winner. We are one of the wealthiest schools in the SEC. Not only can we afford to throw big money to a proven winner, the past decade has established that we cannot afford to hire an unproven coach.
Napier is quite literally proving to be a below average coach. His only on field success came at a school where he had the best of everything - facilities, players, etc. Beyond that the only thing that Napier has been above average at is career management. Parlaying otherwise lackluster performances into lifetime financial security. Do not really care who we get, odds are he cannot be worse.
Mack Brown is alright at UNC And how many examples do you have of a coach who dominated at 4 schools with titles at 2 of them suddenly failing at his 5th college job? You make it seem like he’s Tuberville or Richt
While we're asking for silly examples how many examples do you have of the coach you describe coming back at 60 or whatever after the landscape has been transformed by the portal and NIL and doing amazing? I'd rather gamble on someone who's succeeding now.
