Have you been to Oxford? It's over an hour just to a legit airport, which is in another state. I actually like the town, but there's almost nothing within a 2-3 hrs drive. There's actually a lot within 2 hrs of Gville.

No I haven’t, just saying/mostly kidding. I grew up in Gainesville and just moved back to Alachua a few years ago. After living in Dallas for 20 years, Gainesville definitely still feels like the middle of nowhere, but I like the middle of nowhere. I don’t have to interact with many real people. :D

Quite interesting. Chris Doering nails it!!! He's now hoping we beat Samford, and we likely lose the rest of the way. I remember Chris saying this summer that BN would be the coach in 2025 barring a disastrous season. And, now, Chris thinks BN is facing a disastrous season!!!

I have suspected a mass exodus if BN is let go, unless we get a Lane Kiffen type coach. I am even questioning if the Florida job is even enticing anymore?

I think that depends entirely on the hire. If they were to somehow miracle Urban back into the fold I don't think anyone goes anywhere. Same applies to Kiffin.

I think he was being facetious, but he wonders about wins outside of Samford. I thought Miami's OL was good but not going to totally dominate us. At this point, I'm not sure how we come up with more than three wins. Doering and SOS thought we could get 7, 8, maybe 9 wins, but that's not a remote possibility! And that's the disastrous season Doering thinks we may likely have.

doc, you have been a steady supporter of the program and a true fan. We are alike in this regard.
Frankly, if UF survives Samford (if) and loses to tamu, ...... well, I would not be placing money on the Miss State game.
This thing could melt like Ice placed outside in Phoenix, Arizona today.

Will also depend on the $ the new staff/NiL will use to offer and retain certain players. NIL money will also bring in the new players. All a business now.

I still remember watching that awful 1992 game in disbelief. And I think that was the last time we agreed to play on a Thursday night.

Poor us, Kiffen not coming. He's rolling at Ole Miss. I suppose we could make him the highest paid coach in history. That might work. But I hope we do not have to

Not your fault Doc. Napier let us all down, even those of us that suspected he is FOS.

I have to wonder, was his staff on board, believed we were preparing for serious football, or did they perhaps speak up and Napier failed to listen?

Certainly, but, I think hiring THE guy will go a long way towards keeping the studs in the stable.

You do not retain a coach to save a recruiting class. Especially in the NIL/POETAL era.
I also am not convinced Kiffin is the answer. He has destroyed more programs than he has built.
I prefer someone who has built a program up, who has an offensive mind and who has coaching experience at the highest levels of college (and pro ).
I like Matt Ruhl, Kliff Kingsbury, Dan Lanning, Jedd Fisch.
I will not be mad at getting Kifdin.. I think he is a good coach but I also think he will rape us for every penny and laugh all the way to the bank as he uses us as his stepping stone.

And mass immigration with the new coach, who says it'll be a net negative?

Edit: this feels weird that I'm the one trying to pump the sunshine in this exchange.

idk who Ruhl is but Matt Rhule isn't who you think of when you think "offensive mind," nor does he really have experience at "the highest levels of college" unless you mean one good season at Baylor.

    Kingsbury 35-40 at TTU.

Tell me about the vaunted Dan Lanning offense and what program he's built up?

Jedd Fisch has had exactly one winning season as a HC.

Kiffin, faults aside, would use us as a stepping stone to what, exactly? The only place to go would be the NFL and he'd have to succeed in order to do that.

"Destroyed?" I have never been a Lame Kitten fan, but the guy is an offensive genius! If you listen to Shane Matthews, he acknowledges that Spurrier type coaches are few and far between. To me, Lane has a quirky personality but will make some school a dynasty. He has not had an easy time recruiting to Ole Miss. I may be wrong, but I suspect he might be interested in Florida. I don't know who else is out there. But, I am getting ahead of things because BN is still here.
