Apparently our biggest booster may be seeing the light on Kiffen and his 94-49 record. Keep in mind that’s winning at FAU and Ole Miss where nobody wins. Probably too late as I’m sure Lane has some issues with not being called until now. Difference between his offense and Billy’s offense is beyond night and day.
Frost has 1 winning season as a head coach and 6 losing ones, Gene Chizik has more, why not call him?
With nearly everyone seeing very clearly now that Napier is not the answer, the misery of the Miami game is for the ultimate benefit of the program. A closer game just kicks the can further down the road with maybes and what ifs and you never knows. Although it was near inconceivably worse than anyone expected, the sheer clarity of that game can serve a constructive purpose. Billy seems to be a really good guy whose process has not worked and shows no signs of becoming workable. It simply hasn't resulted in wins or the sort of development that suggests those wins are right around the corner. But he's run a clean program, reestablished some recruiting pipelines, and gotten many good logistical and structural things about the program put in place for the next coach. Because barring a miraculous and immediate turnaround even less likely than the total collapse Saturday, the only question left about his tenure is at what point will it end this season, because there will no longer be a fourth "just in case." And although it's under regrettable circumstances, it's nice to see fan unity for the first time in years.
What are you talking about? I am simply asking for some kind of verifiable evidence that he has indicated that UF is his dream job.
So with his buyout, he essentially hit the lottery and will be set for life. 26 mil and he never has to coach again.
My how things change. 12 Reasons Why Florida Will Make The College Football Play-offs Get Excited About Strength & Conditioning! Get Excited About the Defense . . . to "I've Seen Enough!"
In his defense we got a steady stream of hope from the football program placing stories in GC and elsewhere this summer promoting: Waites-- we nailed it in his recruitment. Marshall -- he is a leader of our defense. Wingo -- he is healthy and ready to make a difference. Turner-- he's different and will bring physicality to our defense. Jackson/Watson -- are fit and will impress their will more. Secondary -- there is great competitive depth. Team: hungrier, bigger and faster. The reality ended up not being that way. Those of us clinging to hope from those words this summer found them to be hollow.
Respectfully, you don't see the reason given the incongruencies from preseason talk to the completely failed opener of his 3rd season? As to your examples in the other thread about the first game not being as important as many are making it, that would be true if we lost a close one while showing improvement. Clearly that didn't happen. There is certainly a nasty contingent of Gator fans that start with the negative hyperbole at the first sign of distress but let's be honest, that's not the same thing as citing specific issues. Fans were happy to win under mac, champ and Mullen but often expressed concerns that they weren't sustainable due to specific issues. Offense under champ, offense, recruiting on the offensive line and S&C with Mac and recruiting/Grantham under Mullen and all were heavily criticized for being concerned. Napier was given a huge pass for the first two years by a large group of supporters until after this year but the first half of the first game caused almost complete unity in the realization that we looked exactly the same as last year's opener save for better special teams. The presser today solidifies the realization that he doesn't think he's doing anything wrong. To lay that egg with all of those recruits at home against a rival in the same year of a rebuild is inexcusable.
Guys, Meyer, won't return here. Buddy Martin interviewed Urban and asked him straight up if he could be enticed to return. Urban unequivocally answered no! He likes being a commentator, and it doesn't require as much as being a coach.
I classify most of the talking heads as entertainment. Was interesting during a rare watching of Shane and his comments on the passing game and the little errors that are important and most likely they aren’t practiced and coached enough. Some of his other thoughts similar to others on the board. Why all the substitutions, keep your best guys in. Use players to their strengths, not everyone can run a post vs a crossing routes. Speed kills. Use it. We are also a slow team. 12? Why. Run 10 and 11 to help your qb and lineman out. Talks about isolating on the 1 on 1 matchup only once the entire game. That’s all, going to yell at a cloud
It's not about laying the egg. The OP started a whole bevy of threads all summer. Many were super RAH RAH! threads wrought with exclamation points. Now after one game this poster went from 11 to "I've see enough." It's a perfect illustration of irrational fanhood.
