I am generally the eternal optimist. We have the team that could go 8-4, because we have the talent. I have to admit now, the problem is not the talent, but the coaching. I have to apologize on here. I could tell we were getting some really good talent, and I thought BN finally had a decent product for achieving some success. I was woefully wrong! Saturday was beyond embarrassing! No recruit should want to be attracted to that beat down. It's time to admit the obvious--we need a radical change--coaches that can coach and develop players. If we continue to the following year with BN, we will need to apologize to Ron Zook. He was a great recruiter, but he was NOT a hbc.
I was at least expecting to be competitive yesterday. What I saw was a team that was completely dominated in all aspects. After roughing the passer on the canes first posession I was just about done. It was truly embarassing!
We could hire Ron Zook make him recruiting coordinator that we know he can excel at and either upgrade an existing quality coach or grab another from somewhere to fill the gap before our next dream hire happens. Ron Zook - Wikipedia
First two aren't happening, and the third guy beat Idaho by 10 last night. He also couldn't win a big game last year...
The thought of having to start over again makes me nauseous. Just go out and get one of the best coaches that’s coaching right now and offer him a bazillion dollars a year and be done with it. Offer him Saban money.
I just have a feeling Urban would be open to it. With 12 team playoff dropping a game or 2 not that fatal and spasms will be at a minimum. Not to mention, Gatornation is not expecting 12-0 anymore; we have calibrated downward for sure.
You are not alone, I bought it hook line and sinker and I now realize that this entire coaching staff is just not that good, to put it nicely. And, like you, I do NOT blame the players, either.
Urban is defensive minded, but I rather we get another good offensive minded coach like SOS used to be back in the day. That means we need Kiffin.
no need to apologize for having hope and optimism in the off season. I do remember you started many, many threads this summer beaming with optimism for 2024. That is okay. We all hoped it would be different this year. And we are all now sad it isn’t.
He has a lot of great contacts and would put the right coordinator in place. He also has an advanced offensive mind. Those that know him know his drive and pride are very different.
If it's not Kiffin then it's going to be rinse-and-repeat with failed coaches... Why Lanning? He's not nearly as good on offense as Kiffin has proven to be.
You have to make the call to Urban. Lane is second call. Lanning- I’d take all day. Guy can recruit and has a tough mindset. He’s definitely driven to win.
