Co-MVG: The Gators win the 2025 SEC Tournament Championship on the road beating the Tennessee Volunteers 86-77 and crushing the dreams of the pro-Volunteer Nashville crowd. Once again, Gator All-American Walter Clayton Jr rose above the rest scoring 22 points with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal for 83 Value Credits. Right behind him was senior guard Will Richard who scored 17 points (3-6 on three pointers and 8-8 FTA) with 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals for a Value Score of 80. Alex Condon comes in 3rd with 13 points, 9 rebounds, an assist and a steal for 72 Value Credits. Though not showing up in the Box Score, all Gator big men played big in the paint as the Gators outrebounded the Vols 39-25 and fouled out the Volunteer best players.

Championship Ingredient: It was no coincidence that the Gators crushed then #1 Volunteers at Gainesville by 30 and then lost by 20 in Knoxville. Besides simply winning at home and the losing on the road, the Gators were without Walter Clayton Jr in the 2nd half of the road loss. The Gators are a different team without Clayton Jr. This guy is something else. He can score at will from the perimeter, with dribble-drive penetration or hit a teammate with perfect pass for an assist. He's the straw that stirs the drink, controls the tempo of the game and provides a quiet confidence and stability when others stumble. This Gator team has great talent, length, depth, energy and is led by an unassuming superstar who embraces the team attitude that takes great pride and joy in the success of teammates.

Undefeated: . . . when leading at half. Once the Gators chomp down on an opponent in the first half, their depth, talent and relentlessness (winning one-word description of the Gators), the outcome is pretty much all over. This year's SEC MBB Conference is regarded by many as the most talented in NCAA history and Florida has a 5-1 record against the top tier opponents because they could not contend for 40 minutes against the height, depth and talent of the Gators. If the Gators can keep their 9-man rotation healthy for the big dance, there is not another NCAA Division 1 team that can hang with the Gators for 40 minutes. 50/50 that the Gators win the whole shooting match.
