Zyon Pullin is 2nd in the SEC in assists. Tyrese (2nd), Condo (8th), and Micah (10th) are in the top 10 in rebounding. HOWEVER, something that doesn't register in those numbers is that Micah is the top rebounder per minutes in the conference, and by a significant margin. The RPG numbers are clearly skewed by the fact that he played in 1 game for only 50 seconds before getting injured, and only 4 minutes in his first game back from injury. UF leads the conference in rebounding. Tammy is 2nd. Tyrese leads the conference in shot completion percentage. UF is actually right in the middle (#7) in 3-point percentage. UF is dead last, and by a substantial margin, in free-throw percentage. UF is 3rd in points per game.
Surprise! Surprise! Florida is dead-last in Free-Thow percentage: 65.9% (#14 in SEC), Best FT shooting teams: #1 Alabama (77.9%) <-- UF will play twice, late in the season. #2 Tennessee (77%) <- Will be a hard road game to win! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3-Pt-Shooting: 33% (8 SEC teams range from 32.9 to 33.7% in FT%). #7 UF is average 33.2% (122/367)! #3 Alabama (186/474) & #2 Kentucky (154/387) had made the most 3-pointers! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not surprisingly, after the Ole Miss rebels had 16 block-shots against UF, Blocked Shots: #1 Ole Miss - 6.7 (107 blocks), #2 Arkansas - 6.6 (105 blks),.. #6 UF - 5.3 (84 blocks) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================================ On the positive side, the Gators are one of the better offensive teams in both the SEC and in the NCAA. Florida is #1 in Rebounds per game: 45.3 rpg Texas AM is a close 2nd: 43.6 rpg. ================================================= Florida is also #3 in scoring offense: 86.5 ppg and #5 in FG%: 46.6% Kentucky (#1, 90.8 ppg, FG%: 49.3%) & Alabama (#2, 90.1 ppg, FG%: 48.8%) are #1, #2 in those two categories. =================================================
^ Good stuff! ============================================ Five Gators are also averaging in double-figures scoring-wise: #11 Walter Clayton: 15.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg (62 reb, 5th on team) #14 Zyon Pullin: 15.2 ppg #19 Tyrese Samuels: 13.6 ppg, 8.4 rpg (135 reb) #33 Riley Kugel: 11.5 ppg #35 Will Richard: 10.8 ppg Florida has a pretty good bench. Leading the way is 6th man Alex Condon: 8.4 ppg, 7.3 rpg (117 reb) M.Handlogten: 6.6 ppg, 7.6 rpg (107 reb) T.Haugh: 4.3 ppg, 4.4 reb (68 reb, 4th on team) D.Aberdeen: 3.7 ppg, 1.1 Apg =========================================== In addition to Samuels, Clayton also ranks highly in FG%: #1 Samuels: 62.8% #11 Clayton: 45.2% =========================================== As for FT-shooting, UF's players ranks as follows: #13 Pullin: 82.1% #25 Clayton: 75.9% #27 Richard: 75.6% #37 Kugel: 67.5% #41 A.Condon: 63.9% #45 Samuels: 51.9% (Last in the SEC rankings!) =========================================== Florida's best 3-PT shooters: #34 W. Richard: 34.9% (30/86) #38 Clayton: 34.4% (33/96) ========================================== As for Assist to Turnovers, I believe Pullin is really outstanding while some of the other UF players need to do better in minimizing those turnovers: #3 Zyon Pullin: (5.1 Apg), 65 A to 15 TO: 4.1 (A:TO) <-- This is #1 in SEC! #12 W. Clayton: (3.1 Apg), 49 A to 43 TO: 1.1 (A:TO). #23 Samuels: (1.9 Apg), 30 A to 34 TO: 0.9 (A:TO) #28 R.Kugel: (1.6 Apg), 24 A to 38 TO: 0.6 (A:TO) Both Kugel & Samuels have more turnovers than assists; however, Clayton has the most turnovers on the team! A good A:TO ratio should be about 2 or higher! If Florida could cut down on those turnovers than I believe that the win totals could improve. Also, better free throw shooting will also help in reaching those goals! I think those are two critical criteria going forward. ================================================
One reason why we have so many rebounds is that we play at a very fast pace and there at more possessions per game hence more chances to rebound the ball. But we are also good in rebounding differential so we are taking advantage of those extra chances to get a board.
We've been shooting free throws at a better rate lately and it's showing up in the charts. We are no longer dead last in the SEC at free throws. MSU has claimed that honor. Also, Walter Clayton, Jr. has continued to see his FT percentage creep up. He's at 80% now (although still far short of his amazing 95% rate last year at Iona).
