Yep . . . increasing smoke about Slimeball being on the way out. John Calipari's future suddenly clouds with another Kentucky early exit in March Madness via 14-seeded Oakland John Calipari, Kentucky need to part after another March Madness loss
Classic case of one team expecting to show up and win and another ravenous and prepared to rip apart their prey and gorge.
Perspective, dude. Back when the ACC/SEC debate was still a thing in football, if you lived in Tallahassee or worked closely with FSU fans, you learned quickly to root for the SEC as their fans are insufferable. The ACC/SEC debate is still a thing in basketball.
I can’t believe the amount of hate for our conference coming from our own fans. I realize UF isn’t high on the pecking order in the SEC, but this is our chance to get some positive points with the league. It’s always about the money and the SEC is about positioning teams for maximum potential profit, not the anti-UF slant that many believe.
I find that it depends on where you live and who you hang out or work with. If your friends/associates are in conference rivals, you don’t root for the SEC. And if they are out of conference rivals, you root for the SEC.
Meh, not sure it really makes that much of a difference in the long run. The league had 3 teams in the Sweet 16 last year and none advanced. The conference got a lot of credit this year because they had some major OOC wins (UNC, Wisconsin, Illinois, Washington State, Duke, Iowa State), which I think is more important than the results of the previous years tournament.
Must be. I think that the high seeding hurt their fanbase more than helped them, even though I remember seeing their fans thinking they could even be as high as a #2 seed prior to the SEC tournament. The way Florida mostly handled them in both games, I didn't think they were close to a top 8-12 team in the nation.
The SEC hasn't treated florida well by several standards compared to the conference royalty. There was a time we rooted for the SEC after auburn was shut out of a split for a Natty with USC west and then shortly after the ole Mich/Ohio state rematch debate during our 06 title year. But there isn't much value in rooting for Georgia and Alabama in football with an occasional up year by LSU as well which for the most part is what the conference reputation has become. Add texas now. Look at CJ Stroud's disrespectful comments to Fred Taylor. Florida doesn't get respect for being in the SEC anymore. Our seeding in the NCAA tournament wasn't helped either. The only time I'll root for SEC schools is against fsu, Miami and UCF....maybe OSU.
Just like in football, there are some sec hoops teams I can root for; and some I can’t. It is primarily dictated by coach. I can’t root for Calipari, Pearl, Barnes or Muss. Nate is knocking on the door of that grouping.
Eh, Nate kicked that door wide open with his dismissive handling of the gun incident and tacit approval of his hand stomper, head elbowing player this year. Paidinfull beat me by seconds...
