SEC GAME THREAD: (2) Georgia at (4) Alabama, Sat. at 7:30pm on ABC

While watching the UGA/Bama game I felt like this is the largest gap b/w UF and the top tier SEC team ... ever. Coaching and talent. I don't remember a time when I felt like UF was so inferior to the top teams. We are way behind those two and the only way we'll ever catch up is to make the right hire.

Watching the LOS on every snap -- it was a damn war in there. I dream of the day when our OL and DL are killers again.

 

I've got a few years before that starts happening, hopefully!

 

i was just talking with a friend yesterday about this. So sad that watching them two compete, flying around, that we aren’t ANYWHERE CLOSE to either team. Not just the starters either, the backups on both sides looked interchangeable.

How does the higher ups watch a game like THAT and be content with our product?

 

So true. Bama's DBs and WRs made highlight reels as well. As a football fan, incredible to see.

 

The difference was the puppies constantly converting on 4th down the entire second half. Stop any of those attempts and uga gets boat raced.

maybe maybe not but UGA didn’t quit and got themselves back in it. Bama can be criticized for taking their foot off the gas but UGA earned that comeback too.

Also, maybe it’s me, but ETN doesn’t fit UGA’s scheme and fit UF’s better. He’s a zone blocking RB imo. A RB who’s only as good as the hole that’s in front of em. I mean that can be said for any RB but i think you get my point. He looks like JAG (just another guy) when he’s out there

 

Rewatching it now….both teams DL and OL, they’re just on another planet physically/athletically than us. My gawd

 

Our DL might be the worst in the league but it still doesn't justify this level of play. On every snap 1/2 of our DL is locked in a stalemate with an OL. UGA and Bama -- damn! It was an all out brawl on both sides. They were doing everything possible to get past their blocker.

But you're right @bobbybaker86 . How can the higher ups watch that game and think we're on the right track? I walked away wondering if this is the biggest gap b/w the top teams and UF in the history of the program. I'm sure they saw the same stuff.

We are at the same level as a very good FCS team or an upper-tier Group of Five team. We have almost hit rock bottom.

I’ll go further and say it seems that there was a talent gap between Bama and Georgia!

 

The SEC is a los league. You are not going far at all without the talented bigs on the los. We are not there, not even close.
