I wouldn’t be calling either of them “dead weight” yet. Our OL is thin and dealing with injuries after losing our best to last year’s draft. None of these coaches have had the luxury yet of building depth.
Yeah it kinda starts to add up doesn’t it? If it costs us this kid I’m still looking forward to the OC acquisition
Agreed. Probably an overstatement that also considers their (relative) lack of excellence with recruiting. As coaches, I think they seem to be adequate, but just aren't working with a depth of SEC talent that it takes to be successful in this league. This might be reflective of Napier hiring an OC and needing to offload one on the field coach.
it was stated by someone who follows the program based on what he heard during his visit. Doesn’t mean it is true. That is what a recruiting forum is….rumor, innuendo, crystal balls, and more wrong than right. If people didn’t post what they hear or read the recruiting forum would be empty.
one of the gator podcasters who claims to have contacts in the program. Related somewhat since it’s an o linemen….fsu 247 site has story up that 5 star O linemen Soloman Thomas is favoring fsu and an early decision is possible. Homer article but he did just visit them. I know he visited us more than once and is a prime target for 2025. Want to land that kid.
Lol true but I mean sue to his position and how good he is… much more important than smith. Smith is a beast but were gonna be good at WR. Very worried about the o line. Especially with Lagway coming in
Im a little sour on the game changer reference around here...hasnt been a good description of our special teams coaching.
I would rank remaing recruits in this order. Smith, he and Wilson , o my. Seaton, then Grimsley and Mincey even.
I read that Grimsley is going to visit UF twice in the coming weeks. That is a lot of smoke for a bama commit this late in the process. I'd also like to know your opinion on him as a DB or WR as I've seen him listed both ways in the past. Can you put these guys on a percentage scale of likely to come to UF? All I've heard on Smith is he is a long shot unless there is a position coaching change at tOSU. If so, that may not happen until after NSD if for no other reason than to protect the 24-recruiting class. It stinks, but it has been done. I'd rather Smith come to the conclusion that UF is just the best place for him. He's got a few heavy hitters in front of him at tOSU that he won't have to confront at UF and QBs in Lagway and Mertz who can and will get him plenty of opportunities from game 1 with the Gators. I know I'd rather be stud 1 with UF rather than stud 3 or 4 with tOSU.
He’s not just another 5* WR. He’s probably a top 3 to come out of HS in the last 10 years. He won’t be stud3 at OSU, or anywhere else for that matter. He’s that good. It’s about …how can I get the best coaching for the next 3 years to prepare for the league …and possibly compete for a NC? I completely understand the decision. Having said that, I think we’re much more in the picture than many seem to think.
The WRs I've seen in the 2 deep with tOSU are studs in their own right. I also can't imagine Smith being better than Marvin Harrison Jr. who will be back at tOSU in 24 as a junior. I'm just not buying into Smith as a top 3 WR in the last 10 years for a high schooler who will have to get it done against top defenses at the next level. I guess Marvin Harrison Jr. is a top 3 WR in the last 10 years too. To me, it's just recruiting hype for a highly talented player.
