Gov. Youngkin defends removal of 1,600 voter registrations, will campaign with Trump in Virginia - WTOP News

And ultimately, there’s a fail safe that can catch any issue, which is a person today in Virginia, can of course, walk up day of and register and vote. And so this process is one that we felt was one tried and true because it had been put in place for a long time. It had been preapproved by the Justice Department back in 2006 and in fact, it starts with people self identifying as noncitizens. And so I do think that everyone in Virginia should trust the elections. We have paper ballots, and we have counting machines that aren’t hooked up to the internet, and we have great ballot custody rules and we have clean voter rolls and everyone who is a citizen in the Commonwealth of Virginia should go vote.

Since we’re talking voter registration, here’s something I’ve always wondered. There are a lot of people up north who have winter homes in Florida. What prevents them from being registered to vote in both places? I know it’s illegal, but does anybody check? Is there anyway to check?

I can imagine there’s some people who think because they own real estate in both places they should be able to vote in both places.

I have no evidence that this is going on. I just always wondered what prevents it. There might be a reasonable answer, but I just don’t know it.

It’s been many moons since I’ve registered to vote, and I don’t remember the questions I was asked when I did. I did just check California voter registration, and my name is no longer on it. I did not actively remove it when we moved away from California years ago, so at some point they decided to purge me from the rolls.

Infuriating and lawless ruling. Federal law could not be clearer that what they did is illegal. In taking this illegal action, they harmed eligible voters by "mistakenly" removing them from the rolls. Republican SCOTUS continues to demonstrate its hostility towards voting rights and the rule of law.

Okay, so then it wasn't in that article and you lied. Glad we established that.

Now, does this mean that we are now trusting the system of same-day voter registration? Because Republicans, like Youngkin, generally opposed those laws as unsecure. Are we admitting that same day registration is a secure system for voting and will Republicans around the country drop their opposition to that?

There is a system to combat this in many states called ERIC. It finds duplicate registrations and eliminates them where possible and monitors joint voting. Republican States (including Florida) have been pulling out of it due to Gateway Pundit claiming that it is some sort of a left-wing plot. Not even joking.

Three Republican states pull out of voter-fraud prevention scheme

My guess is that they will use worse methods to "make mistakes" in those states. Things like simple name matches that have huge errors rates. Pretty much what we are seeing here, with error rates over 99%.

Virginia has election day registration, all they have to do is go vote and register with proof of citizenship. No different than when everyone else registers to vote.

LOL, Lied? Why are your panties in a bunch? Look, just because you look foolish doesn't mean you have to get so angry. Just say thanks, you were wrong and move on. Simple as that. I can't help that you quoted an article that was poorly written and not telling the story. That's a you problem.

Not angry at all. You simply lied when you said that the article said something that it didn't. I don't get angry when you lie. I just point it out. I recognize it happens often, but I did so without any emotional language attached.

I felt no need to go into histrionics like you did here. Seems like you are angry and trying to pawn that off on me. It is interesting how badly you appear to need my approval though. Sorry that the lack of it upsets you so much.

Now, perhaps you would like to address my question: do you think every place should have same day voter registration?

LOL. I assumed you would've posted an article that actually discussed the law. You didn't. I think IF someone is registered to vote and was removed during a voter purge then yes, same day voter registration is extremely important to have. I think every US citizen should be registered to vote when they turn 18. I also think ID should be required and it should be a free Voter ID card with your photo and signature. But to your question, no, you shouldn't have same day voter registration because it would cause too many delays and would require significant manpower to do that. Plus, under what I want done every US Citizen would be automatically eligible to vote when they turn 18.

I posted an article about another person removed from the voter roles that shouldn't have been. You didn't read it and lied about what it said.

So your answer is that they should have same day voter registration but not have same day voter registration? You can't have it only for a couple thousand people. That is absurd. You either have it or you don't. It is either secure or it isn't. You can't play both sides.

And under what you would want, what would happen when the state wrongly canceled your registration a week before an election?

Actually, it was failure to check the box affirming that the applicant was a US citizen. In the overwhelming majority of cases the failure to check the box was an oversight by otherwise eligible US citizens, it was in no way an affirmation that the applicant self-identified as a noncitizen.

I answered it. You just don't like the answer. IF there are voter purges and someone is removed because THEY filled out a form incorrectly then yes, they should be able to say day register/vote. Should it be ok for anyone to do that? No, it would be a disaster of taking too much time having potentially thousands of people showing up to register/vote in the same day. I know you know this but are trying to save face because your take before was shot down. Good effort though. I love the "you lied" routine, I guess that's all you have after looking like a fool yet again.

You lying isn't a routine. It is just something you routinely do.

Regardless, your idea is laughably bad. Your plan is for the state to maintain a list of people that they wrongly forced off the voter rolls, when they aren't able to even say who was rightly and wrongly removed from the roll, and grant them a right not granted to others. Unless, of course, your plan is just to put everybody on the list, which makes the whole exercise useless.

Once again, you have presented an idea that falls apart with about 5 seconds of critical thought. And now you will lose it because you didn't get the affirmation for your bad ideas that you desperately want.

LOL, part of my idea is in place in VA now. Your idea would require literally every polling place to have a separate registration section. That is such an idiotic take that usually I'd question why someone would say something so dumb but since it's you I didn't question it at all LOL. Good luck with having same day registration and voting at every precinct in the country. Only about 120k Voting sites lol. Yeah, brilliant! Run with that Skippy!

No, they have same day voter registration for everybody in Virginia now, not just this list. The rest of this post is quite funny, given that you are wrong on the law. The issue is that Republicans, including yourself, usually oppose it.

LOL. Yeah, good effort. I understand the effort to have everyone vote, and why I think everyone should be automatically enrolled to vote when you turn 18. But having same day registration/voting all over the US would require an enormous undertaking of not just people but more space. Considering you posted something not even knowing the law is hilarious and now you are trying to save face, but only to end up with mud in your face.

Projection again. You posted that same day voter registration would only be allowed for these people. That is false. You then posted that it would be a disaster due to the time it would take, ignoring that this is the solution to dealing with the 99.5% error rate of this sort of policy.

LOL. You posted the article thinking that person couldn't vote and were shown to be 100% wrong. I'd say do better but we know that isn't happening with you.

    My exact post:

What I said is true. Your inference was false. Then you chose to lie again to cover up for it.
