all medications have some sort of side effects. What is different about this that it has to be banned and the doctor and family don’t have the choice to use it?

But it's not. The same hormones and puberty blockers are available to cisgender minors to treat other conditions.

I knew you were wrong all along. You can't refute what I posted, and that is on you, not me.

Like what? There’s a difference between giving a boy testosterone if they have a deficiency and giving a girl high doses so they don’t develop breasts

Do you check under the bed and in the closet for communists before you go beddy-bye? You seem to have a real communist infestation in your "neck" of the woods.

Like you just explained. It's fine to use these drugs, despite their side effects, to address minors' medical issues you think merit treatment. So the issue here isn't people under 18 taking these drugs. Nor is it physician approval or parental consent.

And yet a former KGB colonel is very pleased with the results of the election. The same former KGB colonel who referred to the collapse of the Soviet Union as a great geopolitical tragedy.

I can't speak for you, but I can venture a guess. You don't support gender-affirming care as a treatment. That's your prerogative. If you don't want to be involved in gender-affirming care, you have every right to not be. Where we get crosswise is when you (and others) try to enshrine your personal prejudices into law and take away the rights of others (including other doctors) to make their own decisions.

What rights are you talking about? Can I ask a doctor to chop my arm off if it makes me feel better?

    Yes. You can ask.

What rights? The right to make one's own healthcare decisions. The right to equal protection. The right to equal citizenship.

And you think a surgeon should do that procedure? It’s a described condition with a diagnosis. Body integrity identity disorder

Isn't it amazing the "ban the surgeries, but don't ban the medications crowd" have no clue what medications they're even talking about, let alone what these medications actually do to the body? As if exogenously shutting off a child's endocrine system wouldn't at least pose the risk of long-term complications down the road. And we haven't even gotten to the part yet where kids change their minds 4 times a day.
