Bama pulls it out 73-68 in a game much closer than the score would indicate. Two huge treys in the last minute. IMHO, Tennessee's mistake was trying to respond with a trey when they were only down by two. They should have driven to the basket to tie and/or draw a foul for an extra point. Easy to second guess so just giving my 2 cents. Ky plays a game on Friday and then it will be next Tuesday before the other SEC teams play.
Current standings: Auburn 1-0 - 12-1 Kentucky 1-0 - 10-2 Mississippi State 1-0 - 10-3 Alabama 1-0 - 10-3 Texas A&M 0-0 0.5 11-2 Florida 0-0 0.5 9-3 South Carolina 0-0 0.5 9-3 Ole Miss 0-0 0.5 8-4 Vanderbilt 0-0 0.5 8-4 Georgia 0-0 0.5 5-8 LSU 0-1 1 12-1 Arkansas 0-1 1 10-3 Tennessee 0-1 1 9-3 Missouri 0-1 1 6-7
Lewis was terrible but still played. Glover was like 90%, of players, needed to get a year under him. He would have played this year. Most players that left went to small schools, why. Payne went to big school and he's worse this year. He is not better then Felder or our other bigs,he needed to leave. I like White you don't. I don't know basketball better than you, but you sure don't know it better then me. I look for the good you look for the bad. We have done better last 7 years than all but Kentucky from SEC. Just need to get past 2nd round we will this year. If we finish worse than 5th in SEC you might be right about White
SEC basketball continues. Starting tomorrow night with 4 games: NCAAM College Basketball Scores - NCAAM Scoreboard - ESPN
Carolina pulls to only 10 points behind now....plenty of time left....can they continue to close the gap?
Wild ending to that one! So close....and yet so far....... Kentucky goes down to LSU 65-60 and Auburn takes Carolina 81-66. In other games aTm over Georgia 81-79 and Vandy trails Arky 40-35 at the half. That game on over at SECN...
Kentucky scored a total of 3 points in 11 minutes starting with 13 minutes left in the game. Wow. LSU wasn't much better. At one point the teams combined to score 4 points over a 5-1/2 minute stretch in the second half. Yikes.
Whew....what an ending to that Vandy-Arky game! Arky messed up when they got the rebound on the second (missed) free throw - they should have called timeout right then, instead of kicking it out for the 3 point attempt. After that their fate was set, IMHO. Final score - in a close one - Vanderbilt: 75, Arkansas: 74! Arky with the 0-2 start in conference play.....youch!
OK everyone.......after tonight's games here is the conference standings...... Auburn 2-0 - 13-1 Texas A&M 1-0 0.5 12-2 Mississippi State 1-0 0.5 10-3 Alabama 1-0 0.5 10-3 Vanderbilt 1-0 0.5 9-4 LSU 1-1 1 13-1 Kentucky 1-1 1 11-3 Florida 0-0 1 9-3 Ole Miss 0-0 1 8-4 Tennessee 0-1 1.5 9-3 South Carolina 0-1 1.5 9-4 Missouri 0-1 1.5 6-7 Georgia 0-1 1.5 5-9 Arkansas 0-2 2 10-4
Crazy to me that Vandy wins at Arkansas. I was about to post whether they will get a single conference win, and going into season I thought Musselman was building a juggernaut.
First, I enjoyed your SEC roundup posts. IIRC you spent a little time on Arkansas and were bullish? If so, what do you make of them? You were very bullish on Bama. Their 3 dud losses on one hand, Gonzaga on the other...any refinement to your take on them?
OK folks.....let's see where we are after tonight's games. The Vols win over Ole Miss in OT. We lose to Bama. And the only other game (Ms State-Mizzou) was cancelled. So here's the standings as of tonight: Auburn 2-0 - 13-1 Alabama 2-0 - 11-3 Texas A&M 1-0 0.5 12-2 Mississippi State 1-0 0.5 10-3 Vanderbilt 1-0 0.5 9-4 LSU 1-1 1 13-1 Kentucky 1-1 1 11-3 Tennessee 1-1 1 10-3 Florida 0-1 1.5 9-4 South Carolina 0-1 1.5 9-4 Ole Miss 0-1 1.5 8-5 Missouri 0-1 1.5 6-7 Georgia 0-1 1.5 5-9 Arkansas 0-2 2 10-4 Plenty of games left to play....17 to be exact. GO Gators!!!
Alabama's bigs are not as good as I expected, and they don't have a ton of depth at the big man spots. Still they remain a nationally ranked team and should get better as the season goes on. I haven't watched Arkansas play, so I don't know why they are underperforming. Just lookin ta their stats, I expected more from the big guy, Connor Vanover, and a few other reserves. We will learn more about them as the season goes on. For now, I would drop them into the 2nd tier of the conference and would move LSU up to the top tier. One prediction that I did make that I didn't see from any of the pundits is the breakout at Auburn of transfer, Walker Kessler. He is absolutely kicking butt.
