That fact you post bullshit without even bothering to googling it says even more.

Tell us more about the magnetic force that makes the earth rotate ... I really get a kick out of people who are so sure of themselves and so clueless.

I'm not qualified to say proven, but there are scientific articles on the accelerative effect of atmospheric tides on planetary rotation.

Atmospheric acceleration and Earth-expansion deceleration of the Earth rotation - ScienceDirect

Previous studies suggest that tidal friction gives rise to the secular deceleration of the Earth rotation by a quantity of about 2.25 ms/cy. Here we just consider additional contributions to the secular Earth rotation deceleration. Atmospheric solar semi-diurnal tide has a small amplitude and certain amount of phase lead. This periodic global air-mass excess distribution exerts a quasi-constant torque to accelerate the Earth's spin rotation. Using an updated atmospheric tide model, we re-estimate the amounts of this atmospheric acceleration torque and corresponding energy input, of which the associated change rate in LOD (length of day) is −0.1 ms/cy. In another aspect, evidences from space-geodesy and sea level rise observations suggest that Earth expands at a rate of 0.35 mm/yr in recent decades, which gives rise to the increase of LOD at rate of 1.0 ms/cy. Hence, if the previous estimate due to the tidal friction is correct, the secular Earth rotation deceleration due to tidal friction and Earth expansion should be 3.15 ms/cy.

Was curious so I did a little reading on it. Don't count me as an expert by any means, but it would appear that your equation isn't accurate. It's not about energy, it's about a distortion in the effective mass and gravity's effect on that. The author also mentions that it's a very small effect unless we're in some sort of "resonance point" (suggesting that a 21hr day was such a point billions of years ago)

I'm not expert either, but it seems logical to me that the more energy in the system, the bigger the distortion would be. Although conversely, some other articles suggest that nights have actually been getting warmer faster than days, so the decreasing relative difference in temperature between the day and night sides of the planet may negate any effect caused by increased overall temperatures. Hard to say.

The re-distribution of mass may also have an effect. Or maybe it's something else entirely.

Yeah, a lot of this is well above my pay grade or brain power level for sure. Again, it makes sense in theory but unless they find a way to measure it it remains exactly that. Point being that there's a lot more we don't know about than what we do.

Good line. But a comic doesn't say, "it is a joke, but it sounds like the truth." Rookie mistake. It happens.

Okay, a day is now shorter. If they think I am going to give up a millisecond of sleep, well they can KMA!

Just finished reading the rest of the posts. There are a LOT of comedians posting on this thread.

Too bad they are serious. Kind of a shame. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

My God-fearing theory is that there are now so many people in hell (which, being in the center of the Earth, wasn't built to hold so many people) that hell is hotter than ever (depending on how much "burning in hell" involves actual burning), and the Earth is speeding up its rotation to try to cool its ass off.

We have leap year every 4 years.

How many thousands or millions of years will it be before we have a fall back second adjustment? (shaking head)

We used to play leap frog when I was a kid. Is that why the Earth is so screwed up today?

It’s a way for people to say their whacky shit behind the security of their computer, while portraying some legitimacy with good backdrops and highly edited videos as back up.

As you can tell, I’m not a fan. But with your premise, a little fire and brimstone, and an account to take credit card donations you could add a good supplement to your income.
