In future years, if the program wants cupcakes, I hope they look out of state. FAMU, UNF, JU, Stetson, FGCU, etc. offer no reason at all to trek to Gainesville. Worse than paint drying by now.

Agree...and get newbies Texas & Oky Dokey at home.
"It appears that Florida’s schedule is tilted towards being easier at home and more difficult on the road–at least if you look at who was successful last year,
what teams are bringing back, and who has currently been landed in the transfer portal." - Eric

I'm fine with a win in any shape or form, especially early season OOC to get the team to gel and give the newbies some playing time. If we're not hitting our stride by the SEC we will have troubles regardless of who we play early, and we do have a couple tough teams in there too. With these high turnover rosters each year, every game is a good opportunity to improve early.

Wow, we have a very tough SEC schedule, especially early. Very, very tough.

Looks like another tough 5-game stretch to start the SEC schedule. Last year we started 2-3.

It's not about the fans or TV-friendly matchups. It's about talent and chemistry coming together. For me, our gold standard is our first national championship season.

In-state & HBCU opponents that early season?

FSU, Bama State, UCF, Bethune Cookman, J.U., Miami, FAMU, and we ended with Morgan State.

    8 games . . . and that's our *gold* standard, okay?

Beyond the obvious ( talent ), basketball is almost always about personalities gelling, accepting roles, and guys desiring to play for & with one another. Guys *loving* competition and loving the team, the program, and being a Fightin' Florida Gator.

    Talent and chemistry.

So . . . it is *all* about *us* in the early season.

Do they *love* athletic competition no matter the opponent? That's what I'm looking for in the early season and it's where Kugel ( and I *loved* him & his obvious talent ) disappointed me last year.

These Florida teams and the HBCU teams give us enough variety, enough challenges, to see what's what regarding talent and chemistry.

I am super excited for this upcoming season and super happy with this coaching staff.

I live in Charlotte, so I am very interested in knowing the SEC schedule, particularly weekend vs week night games. This is a great start!

So I guess I was living in a vacuum during baseball season when the news came out, but I missed that Georgia and South Carolina are our permanent rivals that we will play twice each year with another team rotating on and off. Sorry I am late to the party, but that sucks in my opinion. According to the folks running things, the continuation and renewal of historic rivalries was a point of emphasis. Exactly what history do we have with Carolina?

Will you attending the North Carolina game?
They should toughen us up for the SEC slate.

Totally. Our rivalry with Kentucky may not be that historic either, but at least it exists.

Sad to read FSU's troubles the last two seasons. Very sad, in fact. So. Very. Sad.
