I don't pretend that Trump is morally unassailable. He's far from it, but to call Trump Hitler when he has not murdered even one person is beyond stupid. It wouldn't be all that dissimilar to saying someone who is not a serial killer is like Ted Bundy for some other reason other than going on a rape/serial killer spree. Comparisons like that should not be made. They are not helpful. They are inherently fallacious smears on their face attempting to take the most grotesque behaviors of some of the world's most infamous people and plaster them onto another person who has not exhibited those grotesque behaviors. If I started finding ways to draw comparisons and associations between you and Ted Bundy that would be malicious and morally wrong even if I could dig and find valid common characteristics you share with Ted Bundy other than textbook serial killer type of behavior.

Trump is dictatorial--there is no question about that. He worships dictators, and he would like to be one. He led an insurrection attempt in 2021, which is something a dictator might do. Do you have a preferred dictator that we should compare him to? Mussolini maybe? (Kim Jung Un and Vlad Putin are already in use.) Or could we compare him to a Charlie Chaplin character to also include his clownish ineptitude?

Trump thinks in transactional terms to make a good deal. So he praises his adversaries as a negotiating tactic to strike a good deal with them. You may not like that when he applies his version of business principles to negotiating practices in the geopolitical realm with dictators, but that is what he is doing. Employing those tactics in that way does not make him a dictator. It simply means you disagree with his negotiating tactics with dictators, which is fine. We are all free to disagree with the POTUS on how he goes about doing certain aspects of his job.

Personally, I don’t like it either because it is a form of flattery. It is not telling the truth and speaking the truth at all times. That is more in line with the line of criticism that strikes at the truth of what is wrong with Trump’s approach IMO.
