Man, there a lot of good things about Texas by reading everyone's replies. I could name a few myself so I'll just stick with the one that makes me laugh and smile..... Ron White. GO GATORS!!!!
Given that most everything I loved about Texas was ruined by about 2010 due to people telling everyone about it, what little is left that I do still love I sure as hell am not clueing anyone in on, haha. Aggies were never on that list.
They said something about Texas in the movie Full Metal Jacket and I'm trying to remember what it was.
Lived in Texas a couple of times for short stints and have also visited many times. It’s a great place. I’ll throw out a drive through the hill country to see the spring blue bonnets and indian paintbrush as a spectacular thing to do.
Lived there a few times while in the military. San Antonio is OK, Austin is kind of cool. The business school at Austin opened up some good doors for me. For the most part, highly overrated state with the inhabitants way to full of themselves. The saying used to be "Texas, it's like a whole other country". I tend to agree, but that country would be Oman. Lots of sand, no trees and vaguely important because they have some oil and enough scrub real estate that it could be turned into runways for my convenience.
Been to East Texas. Lots of trees compared to the rest of Texas but nothing special. I guess you could call it less ugly?
