    And the most obvious:

South Carolina is essentially "Low Country." If you like anything "Low Country", chances are it originated in SC.

The kid that lived 2 doors down from me growing up was Tom Petty's first drummer (pre-MudCrutch).

How many of you are still around that share some of my memories of growing up in Gainesville:

Kirby Smith when it was still an elementary school
    Manaro's Italian Restaurant
Chandler's Hamburgers (the first McDonald's in Gainesville moved in across the street and drove Chandler's out of business)
    The Gainesville Drive-In Theater
    Lincoln High School
The Canton Restaurant (great people but I don't think Mr. Eng ever spoke a word of English)
Feed a friend for a buck coupons in The Alligator (2 What-a-burgers for a dollar)
Leonardo's slice and a beer for $1 coupons in The Alligator
The old post office before it became The Hippodrome
The old courthouse when it was the new courthouse and people would put soap in the fountains
    The Subterranean Circus
Louis' Delicious Lunch (two blocks off Depot, hamburgers with a little bit of sausage in them)
Florida Theater when it was a movie theater...many more

My daughter was born at the Charleston Navy Hospital. Teaching future nukes at Naval Nuclear Power School. Taking boats in and out of the Cooper River. Passing Patriots Point, Ft Sumter.

You are most welcome. Being stationed there was almost as nice as growing up in Gainesville and Florida before Disney ruined it. Being up in the sail for the trip in and out was just beautiful.

I live in Spartanburg and The Beacon is definitely a staple. It really was better when John White ran it.
