My Dad was about as southern as you get and it was always peecan. Maybe a panhandle thing (lower alabama).
Could be. After I posted that I seemed to remember hearing it pronounced both ways growing up. My lineage is Citrus and Pasco Counties.
About the only downside compared to Sh. . . er, South Florida. And south Georgia and the rest of Florida have beaches too. Better ones that aren't slathered with cheese and overdevelopment. . . YET. But the scumbags are coming. They've already found and are in the process of ruining this place (Tampa Bay).
Got married in Georgia. 1st question asked for the license was if we were related. We were told that being related was ok, as long as we weren’t 1st cousins.
Ditto. It's pretty to look at, but wouldn't want to live there any more than hellscape South Florida.
My GA cousin told me that someone on her mother's side (brother, I think) wrote the book "Deliverance". Rick, c'mon, pics!!! that would be Perry, at least back in the day "Pee-can" and I used to pack a coffee can labelled "P-Can" on camping trips.
