Sure would be sad to reduce the US dependency on oil so that OPEC output was unimportant.

 

We’d have to replace most of that oil consumption with coal consumption to power all those electric vehicles. That’s not a criticism of EVs.

 

Probably not the best way to evolve our energy grid. We all know oil is finite and controlled mostly by others. We need to move away or simply live with these consequences.

This is worthless at best and false at worst without context. The deal you reference deal was made in response the Saudi/Russian oil production war which had earlier in the year sent oil prices down by around 60%.

Dwindling huh? Someone has been fooled? We were all told in 70’s that the world would be out of oil by the turn of the century. Wasn’t true then and still isn’t.

 

What does the UK and their gas prices have to do with our gas prices? We've had cheap gas forever because we have a huge domestic supply... The UK never had that luxury.

And now that BIDEN HAS DECLARED WAR on OUR OWN ECONOMY we are at the mercy of other nations to get oil, a commodity that we cannot live without.

Of course it’s dwindling, it’s a finite resource, regardless of how much we find, the amount actually there is static.
If you would like to wait around and hope that they find more so we don’t have to come off of it for another few years, when we are in this same position again, have at it I guess. But that isn’t exactly a strategy.
Even as OPEC has 80 percent of the reserves, SA bends us over and Russia uses it as a war tactic against Europe people still can’t see it.

That might be so. But the larger matter at present is defeating Russia. Russia benefits from higher oil prices. Lowering oil prices means bringing the Saudis back into the fold and subordinating some other political considerations to the larger strategic goal. And if you want to think longer term about the environment, Russia is currently about as big of a polluter as China with no intention to stop. Bringing Russia down and back into alignment with the West (away from China) in the long run will probably net greater benefit than our current strategy of alienating Saudi Arabia in order to placate Iran (which isn’t working in any case).

Did you conveniently ignore the information provided to you in the oil thread that the US is setting a record high in oil production this year and exporting a record amount of natural gas?

Please list what policies you believe constitute a war on oil.

and the price of gas is totally disconnected from the price of oil at this point as refinery capacity is allowing the refiners to command large premiums.

as long as there is a global economy, OPEC will be important. At least until we turn all of these energy, battery, and material advances into worldwide production and application
