Who's suppressing free speech? Sasse said very clearly they would allow all the free speech anyone can speak.
Sasse very clearly said they'd allow free speech. All you have to do is comply with vague rules and not commit any minor infractions or else you'll be suspended and barred from campus for three years. Whatever would make students hesitant to trust Sasse's words?
I'd advise any person who isn't sure whether they can speak without committing infractions or obey rules to take the west bus option to UCLA.

Perhaps entirely unrelated but I recall debates about whether students receive sufficient due process during investigations/hearings into alleged sexual assaults. I'm not sure whether the due process considerations are similar here. I'm okay with some time, place, and manner restrictions, but a three year suspension seems harsh to the extent we're talking about a non violent rule violation such as someone putting their sign down instead of holding it. I also remember anti-abortion signs being prominent back in the day - not to mention Brother Jed yelling at women and calling them whores. Just strikes me that there is a potential for a lot of subjectivity depending upon whose proverbial ox is getting gored.
He wrote a book about "The Vanishing Adult" and was one of the "whatabout the norms" guys in the senate (while basically voting with Trump 100% of time) this is basically his wheelhouse. He's having the moment he always wanted, I think.
I met a super smart young woman at graduation this weekend of Palestinian decent who had expressed her 1st amendment rights taking part in the protests on campus, didn't deface property, spit on anyone or get herself arrested and proudly graduated with the engineering college Sunday...imagine that!

All pro-Palestinian protestors released from jail one day after UF campus arrests - The Independent Florida Alligator The UF Divest Coalition shared police began arresting three protesters after accusing them of sitting in chairs. As police began arresting these protestors, six more were arrested in the “ensuing chaos” while the crowds chanted “Disclose, divest, we will not stop, we will not rest,” according to the coalition.
I wonder if she’s going back to Gaza to help her people rebuild? Or, will she opt to stay in a much safer and more comfortable place like the US where she has the freedom to secure stable employment …. while continuing to protest with the anti-semites in support of Hamas? Gotta love there people.
