No that is their salary. Why would you not just look it up rather than speculate? I am guessing you don't want to see it for yourself. Three are north of a million and the top salary is 1.6 million.
I'm not sure he was a 'fan,' but Sasse was the sort of conservative that would get buy-in from centrist/NYT reader types. More cover than appointing some mouth-breather weirdo at a high profile university. I think it was just political savviness.
Respectfully, you don't seem to appreciate how grant-funded research works. It's all going to have to be reported by the University, but research faculty have the bulk of their "salary" paid by the grants awarded to them for their research (whether from NIH or other large research funding groups like Breakthrough T1D, fka Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). The grant funds go through UF and UF signs the paycheck, but those faculty salaries inflate or dry up with the research funding.
One theory is Desantis didn't care about Sasse one way or another and it was all a favor to Pete Ricketts to clear out Sasse's Senate seat so he could take over.
Absolutely correct. And If the grant is federal as most large ones are then UF gets a huge cut (50% iirc) right off the top. That’s why the rainmakers are held in such high regard (regardless of the quality of the work). Edit: Also, and i’m on shakier ground here, but many of the higher salaried profs work at Shands and money flows through UF from Medicare, Medicaide, and health insurance companies.
