In state documents. How big a problem was this? Sanders: "I hereby declare made up problems are easier to solve than real ones". These phrases are clunky and overall just stupid but banning words? ay yi yi. https://www.kark.com/news/state-news/gov-sarah-huckabee-sanders-to-sign-executive-order-thursday/ LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – An executive order signed at the state Capitol on Thursday will remove what Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders called “woke” language from state documents. “Enough trying to erase women and girls,” the governor said. “Enough trying to erase our biological differences from men.” Sanders was surrounded by women as she made the announcement, including state lawmakers. Sanders then added, “Today, we’re taking a stand against woke nonsense.” The governor gave examples of what she considered woke terms such as “pregnant people,” “birth giver” and “laboring person,” calling them “nonsense terms.”
Banning any speech is an encroahment on freedom of speech. If you get on the left (mainly feminist/lgbtq+ etc) about being forced to use pronouns or banning "hateful" or "dangerous" speech then you cannot support this.
I agree they are nonsense terms. I don’t think you need to have a law and press conference to address them.
The executive branch of state government can’t infringe on its own freedom of speech, and this concerns official documents issued by state agencies. She almost certainly has the power to do this, but it didn’t take an executive order and press conference to do so. That aspect of it was just a pointless show.
That was my point. Apparently it was in at least one Department of Insurance document, but if you cared you could solve that problem by just calling the Department of Insurance and saying “Issue revised guidelines. Come on, you know better than to put that silliness in an official publication.”
Oh, we have seen the lectern. The $19,000+ lectern is a counterfeit copy of a lectern that sells for $7500.
If they are going to ban legalistic nonsense words from insurance related documents, it might break the industry
Yeah, I don’t think it coincidence that she invents this emergency while an investigation into her possible corruption is ongoing
If the words listed in the executive order are banned from all state records, does the executive order violate itself? Good to see she's tackling the big problems.
