I hope this doesn't turn out like the guy last year from UCLA!

Last year around this time we got a transfer portal commitment from a very good UCLA pitcher, Kelly Austin. But even though he was undrafted, he elected to sign with the Astros instead of coming to UF.

We need pitching like I said in the thread that said our failure this year was hitting. For the most part we scored a lot of runs excepting our last game and a few others but you can also find games were we scored a lot of runs and lost. We mostly need starters that can give us 6 good innings reliably. We never had that this year and yet somehow got to the last four standing in the CWS. Not even Cags could give us a reliable 5 to 6 inning start and many folks here wanted him to be the Friday night guy.

If this guy can start at the SEC level I am all for it.

What's your take on Samford baseball? Does their program regular develop good arms? If so then I feel like he has a fighting chance.

FWIW, Sanford had a player transfer to UGA last season and he started (infielder).

I’m not familiar with the Samford baseball program to know how they may develop their players. I was merely referring to the two stages (or conferences) that the game is played on.

So again, we’ll see. Nothing negative just a question.

Couple years ago Auburn had a big kid, Sonny D, from Samford who nearly batted .400 with 20+ homers.

  14. Lower tier conferences are getting decimated by these types of transfers. As a fan of a "big school" or whatever we wanna describe UF, it's a good thing it makes us better. With that being said (similar to basketball) I can't help but feel some sympathy for those smaller schools finding overlooked kids and developing them only for the kids to leave for greener pastures. From the kids perspective it's a no brainer (better facilities, competition, fans, maybe a few NIL dollars). Believe me I'm happy with it, hope Ross is a stud at UF but further consolidation of talent among the top schools (and every power conference school is doing it) makes underdog stories less likely among other things.

Yep Samford has quality talent.. A lot in area think Ross will be drafted high enough to leave. More so due to age. But he could be gambling a good year in sEC makes him more $ next year.

Seriously, I want him to bring Harvey Specter with him. HS is a bada$$ big time hitter. That will guarantee that Donna Paulson will come as a recruiter. Who can ever say No to her? They can keep Louis Litt, he is too needy and mercurial.

The real question: Is Michael Ross a fraud?
