I linked earlier in the thread (post 13) to reporting going back to 2006. This did not just come out now. The piece he feels victimized by has new reporting, but is also an aggregator.

He is trying for a version of the most reasonable Trump defense, i.e., I’ve been an brazen lawbreaker for years like all wealthy white guys and society allowed it, so now I must be being targeted for my politics. Some truth to that, although his crimes are even worse and of course being President opens you up to more scrutiny and also makes you subject to more laws about simply cheating the public, like emoluments.

In Brand’s case, he is arguing that his shift far right is what is bringing out protest now, i.e., everyone has known me as an abuser of women for years and was OK with it, what changed other than my politics. But in his case MeToo happened. Abuse women endured for years because they thought they had to is now being named and shamed. Good. Maybe it’s politics only in that having such an unapologetic and open abuser in the WH helped spark the movement. But that’s how it goes.

Plus I’m not sure Brand will suffer any with this new spotlight on his open bad acts from the past. He is no longer a general media type that needs broad appeal. His current audience applauds him for it.

Perhaps. Never was a fan of the guy. But it also seems rather more than coincidental that he's getting skewered...after he went off script and off the res, and against the grain...

TBL is that's how fame works. They're all whored out whores, bought and paid for, owned, and the system runs cover for them as long as they stay within the prescribed parameters. Go off the res, and it's open season on the renegades.

The simplest explanation is he let his B level fame get into his head and abused women for fun and it eventually came out. I guess its possible he is a good guy and never abused anyone and is only being framed now because a vast liberal conspiracy of rule enforcers decided a low level comedian is a prime target to marshal their vast resources to persecute because they don’t like his jokes about wokeness. But doesn’t that seem crazy and unlikely?

 

You missed option C which is that he always was a POS, as are most celebs--so not framed, but exposed. Because he went off res/against the grain.
