Yup. It's why he should have been coaching for his professional life to open up the season and take advantage of home games against a fellow 3rd year coach in a rebuild and a 1st year coach. Injuries piling up against the meat of our schedule.
Told you I was right. I hate being right sometimes and this is one of those times. Napier isn't cut out to be an SEC coach earning more than 90% of the coaches out there. It's an embarrassment and to see people still wanting to keep him reminds me of Charlie Brown lining up to kick the ball and Lucy gleefully pulling the ball away at the last second while saying, "A sucker born every minute".
It's been awhile I'm piling on because you guys are going to grant him another year and we'll fire him next year after 5 straight losing seasons, which BTW hasn't happened since the horse and buggy days. A Gator buddy of mine even says Florida has never had 5 straight losing seasons. So we fire him next year when 6 other FBS coaches will most likely get canned - Freeze and Norvell among them. We will have to compete with all of them for maybe table scraps. Some of the coaches we want may get hired away this year. There is a good possibility that none on our short list now will be available next season.
exactly what I was worried about --- player attrition - you can't keep him and retain him because we almost beat Tenn, and should of/ could of beat Georgia. 2022-23 - 6 - 7 2023-24 - 5 - 7 2024-25 - 5 - 7, assuming we only beat FSU
I don't care what anyone says, we had that game yesterday. 10-3 and about to score before DJ got hurt. Beck throwing INTs like crazy. Georgia looked shell-shocked by our defense. Running game was effective. That injury saved them and their season. DJ was able to throw right over their secondary with ease and probably does it 3-5 more times in the game for at least 2 more TDs. And he'd have been able to do that against any team if he could do it to UGA, so no the thread didn't age badly. Just a really unfortunate injury.
well, in the SEC only, Napier is the 10th highest paid coach out of 16 teams. Doesn’t mean much but vs comparable programs, he is not in the highest half of salaries.
We were already on our backup QB, and certainly DJ was good enough to win the game, arguably even better chance to win than our QB1, Mertz. I don't think most teams can win the toughest game on their schedule against the best team in the nation with their 3rd string QB.
